Looking to add a lead player to my country band. Was wondering if y’all would choose a champ or blues Deluxe for an amp for them. I’m a bass play so I don’t know much about guitar amps but I’ve narrowed it down to these two. I know I want the lead player to be able to hook up a distortion pedal in places we are not able to turn up very loud, and I know I want reverb. I would also want to hook up a delay pedal for them. For music we play is as follows; hank Williams, stray cats, Georgia sattelites, zz top, cash, chuck berry etc. Any opinions are welcome.

The Champ is a 5 watts amp !!! Blues Deluxe 40 watts.

Or you mean Super Champ at 15 watts ?

Between both go for the BD

Don't you think any guitar player you hire is capable of making his own decision regarding the purchase of a suitable amp?

Frankly I think you're being pretty damn presumptuous.

^^^^ This.
If you are going to hire a guitarist, he/she likely has his/her own gear and knows how to use it. Audition people to find someone who has the sound and talent that you want for your band.

If you are bankrolling all of the gear for the band and are just looking to fill spots on stage, then it really doesn't matter what they plug in to.

If they sound good, go with the Blues Deluxe - If they sound like crap, go with the Champ.

Seriously, go with the advice above.
