Is the preferred location for inputting individual pedal effects the Custom (1 or 2) channels or the Vintage (1 or 2) channels?

The write up on these amps is the first channel is a bass man circuit and more pedal friendly and the vintage side is more blackface clean. Had I never read that I would have chose the vintage side and used pedals. That’s what I’ve done on a vibrolux of the same series and that channel takes pedals great. So does channel one. My take is channel one is darker, louder, and has more break up. Channel two is clean with more headroom. That’s why I think this series is so great. Two really useable voiced channels. Jumping them gives even a third channel - almost a clean boost.

Summary - the write up says channel one takes pedals better. I say they both take pedals extremely well no issues so let your ears decide. Lots of great tones you can achieve. Have fun with your new amp!

Zantac the number 2 input of each channel is a reduced volume input. If you need to play quieter you select channel two. This way you increase the volume knob on the amp which brings you back to the sweet spot of the tubes. You’ll discover where you set your volume knob will give you a range of tones with the higher up you’ll get more natural overdrive. The deluxe is known for this. Try this - set the volume high and play softly with your hands. You’ll notice clean output. Dive in now with your hands and you’ll hear overdriven. Two tones all from your hands. Tube amps no substitute.
