Hi, I bought this Pro Reverb with the intention of replacing the grill cloth, but I have been told that the band that signed it is fairly famous in the worship scene so I would like to see if I can preserve the grill cloth and frame. I cannot figure out how this grill comes off?? any tips? Otherwise I will be selling the entire amp which is a shame because it sounds fantastic!

Here are pics of the amp and the inside of the baffle:

The cloth is attached to a removable frame that's held fast to the front of the baffle board via velcro strips. Gently pry the frame off starting at the top using a popsicle stick or other non-destructive implement.

Thank you!!!

I found that I had to unscrew the head to get access to the grill cloth and use a feeler gauge around the top of the head to allow it to slide back without bending the face.

Then you are correct it was just velcro holding it on! Now just need to find where I can buy a new assembled grill that will fit. Any recommendations?

Ebay vendor "rodgers amps" used to sell replacement grill frames for most Fender amps -- you might try there.

I do not.

Use the search engine of your choice to find Rodgers Amps.

Web site lands on a go daddy landing page. Looks like they may be out of business.

You can use a screwdriver to carefully pry the staples out of the back of the frame, to non-destructively remove the autographed grille cloth. Have a pair of pliers handy -- sometimes one end of the staple pops free before the other and pliers will let you pull the other end out. (You might want to just use the screwdriver to pry the staples part way up, then pull them the rest of the way out with pliers.)

I've removed grille cloth and then re-installed it. If you're good with a staple gun you can even reuse the existing holes.

Non-destructively removing the existing cloth will let you see how the corners are done. Very helpful if you've never installed grille cloth before.

You can store/display the grille cloth flat in a picture frame, or just cut a sheet of plywood the same size/thickness as the grille frame and staple the cloth to it. (Slighty "ease" the edges/corners of the board with a file or sandpaper then paint it black first, and let it thoroughly dry before you install the cloth.) Mounting the cloth to a board will keep the creases nice and crisp, making it easier to reinstall if you ever want to.

Mounting it to a board and reusing the existing frame for new cloth will be much cheaper than buying a new frame, and way easier to source.

Putting new cloth onto a frame is tricky -- it's hard to get it taut and straight, and the corner cuts or folds are finicky. Way trickier than removing the existing cloth. Buy twice as much cloth as you think you need.

I've installed cloth maybe half a dozen times and I'm still hit & miss about getting it perfectly taut evenly across its whole surface. Even reinstalling the existing cloth can be a little saggy/wavy.

The first time I did it it came out perfectly -- proverbially beginner's luck. I wish the same for you.
