I really like my superchamp x2, but it has this annoying rattle. It's sort of a high frequency glass/metallic rattle. It doesn't happen if I play really softly, but is noticeable when playing louder. Furthermore, it seems to be the worst when I hit an A note. Example: if I hit the low E string open, it rattles just a tiny bit, but if I hit the 5th fret on the low E, or the open a, then the rattle becomes way more pronounced. I've tried adding some tube dampener rings, but it isn't helping.

The amp was a floor model, so maybe the tubes could use a replacement? I don't have a cab to test with.

Rattles are mechanical anomalies. If it is frequency selective, it is usually a tube or a speaker.
A floor model is likely to need tubes all around. You can date the tubes by the 4 digit code embossed on the side.
Start with a low noise jj ecc83 gold pin. If that doesn't fix it, get new power tubes. I'm a jj fan but you can get many different 6L6 recommendations here.
A speaker problem can be checked by backing a different amp up to it and plugging in it's speaker. Or you can drive its speaker to see if a tube rattle shows up on a different speaker.

If the amp is a combo with a speaker inside the cabinet, it could just be power tubes. Just put in new power tubes or try anti rattle rings on the power tubes. Actually do both, new tubes and add anti rattle rings...

I get my anti rattle rings from Eurotubes, they are heftier than the ordinary ones you get from other vendors. My tubes don't rattle anymore......

You might prevent damage to the power tubes with rings, but once it rattles, the damage is done.
Its a design problem that most modern tube amps suffer from. When the tube sockets are soldered directly to the circuit board, they transmit chassis vibration directly to the tube. This causes premature failure.
Hand wired sockets float the pins inside their mount to isolate vibration. Old amps used rubber grommets on the screw mounts to further isolate the tubes.

But, besides external sources of vibration, the internal electrostatic forces also work to loosen tube components. At 150 volts differential, the plate and cathode are physically attracted to each other. As signal is applied, that attraction turns on and off at the signal frequency. At 2khz, you can plainly hear a tube without need for a speaker. That mechanical vibration can be dampened with rattle rings to slow the ageing of the tube.
The tubes are constructed with spot welds and tabA/slotB , with interference fit of the mica discs and the pins that hold the cathode, grid, and plate. Any of these can come loose and cause the tube to become microphonic. Usually, its the cathode that comes loose from the mica and starts hitting the filament inside to buzz, rattle, or fail.

I picked up a Blonde X2 as Fender phased out the XD. For a while I owned both. My X2 cab buzzed whenever I played an A on the low E. My XD did not.

I observed that the XD speaker baffel was secured to cleats that were attached to the inner walls of the cab. The X2 baffel has a rabbit at the bottom of the cab that it fits into and is secured with to screws from the sides. I saw a post where sombody added additional screws at the botton to secure the baffel to the cab

I made it stop by cutting and inserting a 1/2" wide by 3/16" thk by the width of the slot piece of foam. Next I reinserted the speaker baffel. The annoyiny buzz went away.

Hope that helps

Rattles are mechanical inconsistencies. On the off chance that it is recurrence specific, it is normally a cylinder or a speaker.

A story show is probably going to require tubes all around. You can date the cylinders by the 4 digit code embellished as an afterthought.

Begin with a low commotion jj ecc83 gold stick. In the event that that doesn't fix it, get new power tubes. I'm a jj fan yet you can get a wide range of 6L6 suggestions here.

A speaker issue can be checked by sponsorship an alternate amp ready and connecting it's speaker. Or on the other hand you can drive its speaker to check whether a cylinder shake appears on an alternate speaker.
