This mod is similar to the one I described for the Hot Rod. It reroutes the preamp signal chain into a "tone before volume" configuration. This is how Leo designed almost all of his amps. It sends more signal to the tone caps at low volumes. The improvement is readily apparent.
This is a mod that requires changes to the back side of the circuit board. Its for qualified techs, not beginners.
Remove C2.
Cut trace between R15 and treble wiper.
Cut trace between R11 and R9
Connect one end C2 to R15 near cut trace
Wire the other end to R9 near cut trace.
Add wire from Treble wiper trace to C2/R6/W1 trace
Add wire from C5 near cut to C2/R4 trace.
After testing, silicone parts to the board.

I have been doing this mod for more than ten years. Its well worth doing for any type of music. I usually change C1 to a 2.2uf poly cap if the user plays with a bass player it cuts bass response and puts the amps focus on mids. I also upgraded the reverb ic to a tle2072. Along with a standard resolder, I would charge $100-125 for the job. Never had a complaint, just referrals.

TimAudio is the greatest, it is not a joke.

Well, I'm retired and don't work on customer stuff anymore. I released these details so your local techs can make some money on it. I usually charged $100 for the job.
If there are questions about the mod, please post them here.

No, I'm still keeping my ear to the rail here at the forum. I just don't have the flow of gear coming through to keep me fresh. But I enjoy helping out here.
I'm still having fun. We floated the river last week and the Oregon Jamboree is coming to town next weekend. I'm new to this. I've never seen this town's head explode before. Should be fun.

Hello Tim

I'm looking in the forum the mod similar to this that you described for the Hot Rod but can't find it out.
