Cool thanks for all the wonderful replies. I followed BMW KTM's advice and just ripped it out. Now there's plenty of space for my amp cover! I'll definitely be back for more useful information laden with unnecessary snark in the future.
I don't think anyone's trying to be mean or snarky. I think some wonder if your question was serious or you're just having some fun. Assuming you are serious, yanking out that thing will eliminate your reverb. You surely see there are wires attached to it. Right?

Yes, it was a sincere question. I didn't think I'd have to indicate that. My bad. The first response answered my question sufficiently when he indicated that it was my reverb tank. My intention wasn't to sacrifice something like a reverb tank for more space. That's precisely why I asked the question. Also, no, any wires that are connected are well hidden and I didn't notice them.
The wire is well hidden on my Twin Reverb. I never thought to look for it until your post. They tacked a 2 in 1 wire up the inside wall of the amp. Hard to spot, but I knew there had to be something that connects the tank to the amp. Also, as if you haven't gotten enough advice, it's not a good idea to put stuff in the back of the amp. The speakers are fragile and easily damaged.

Sincerely, I thought I had seen everything there is to see about people's gig-related ideas, but I never saw anyone try to store/carry anything in the back of an amp (especially a tube amp)... Let alone think about ripping off something that the manufacturer installed in it for that purpose. Now that's new.

Well, the boys up there answered quite precisely. But anyway... I wouldn't do it. It's just not practical or clever, man. Just get yourself a nice Jansport backpack or a duffle bag and throw all the random stuff that don't go inside your pedal and guitar cases and you're game. I myself favor the backpack, because I can put it on my back and have both hands free to carry the other stuff.

Also if you can, posting a photo of object in question can help others answer questions.

For those who may not know, this () is what a real Fender amp looks like.

Anything else is but a pale imitation.

As Beemer stated a photo is helpful, but it also serves the purpose of letting forum members know you are asking a serious question. Also helps responses to be more specific.

FWIW

I prefer my amps with output and rectifier tubes.

Actually, Fender is a brand. So whatever they slap their logo on is a Fender amp. :D

No, Fender (that is to say "FMIC") is an international conglomerate comprised of investors and employees, none of whom know anything about Leo Fender the man -- his philosophy, his vision, his dedication to providing the best gear humanly possible. The hedge-fund managers now in charge care only about the bottom line and how to maximize it. Buy their products if that is your wont but no one will ever convince me that there's any value in them.
