I apologize in advance if this had been asked before. Tried to look for similar topic here but couldn't find any that will give insight to the issue I'm having right now. I have a one week old blues deluxe that gives a significant hum when guitar cable is plugged in to input 1. Input 2 has it too but very minimal. Unplugging cable rids of any noise. Hooking the guitar lessens the interference to a degree but still annoying. What could be the possible causes and solutions?

On week amp ; bough new or second hand ?
No noise with no guitar plug ; look it is the guitar, not the amp

Did you try guitar in other amp in same room ?
Or another guitar plug in blues Deluxe ?

What about wall outlet , ground are ok ?

Switch off cell phone , PC , neon light, halogen lamp

Hi there! Amp is bnew. Tried all outlets same thing. Amp is quiet without the cables plugged in. Guitar will decrease the hum to an extent but still bothersome. Are those hum cancelling devices available everywhere a good option. Just want to make sure it’s not the amp that is the issue. Anyone here with a similar problem?

Wich guitar ? Single coil ? Single coil may do normal noise. Is the noise is normal ?
What is you experience with electric guitar and tubes amps ?

Please answer to all my questions I post before;

1-Did you try guitar in other amp in same room ?
2- Or another guitar plug in blues Deluxe ?
3 Did your wall outlets have a good ground ?
4- Did you power OFF cell phone and pc and halogene lamp ?

Hum cancelling device are ; humbucking pickups, guitar shielding . These will work if ;

Guitar must be in good working order . Wall outlet must have ground

Please answer to all my questions I post before;

1-Did you try guitar in other amp in same room ?

I am not sure guitar is the issue. Even without the guitar hooked up buzz is present when a cable is plugged in to amp. Guitar is ok I assume coz it's new and it minimizes buzz to an extent.

2- Or another guitar plug in blues Deluxe ?

Same thing.

3 Did your wall outlets have a good ground ?

Now this is a question of which I have no clue.

4- Did you power OFF cell phone and pc and halogene lamp ?

No PC in the room. No lamps that would generate interference. Not sure if all the other appliances in the house can cause this.

Anyways, the issue is this.

1. Amplifier on its own = no hum
2. Plug a cable to input 1 = HUM
3. Guitar plugged in = decreased hum
4. Tried another guitar = same result
5. Tried a different outlet = same result
6. Used a different cable = same result
7. Moved the BDRI to another room = same result
8. Using input 2 = Less hum (which is expected)

Hum cancelling device are ; humbucking pickups, guitar shielding . These will work if ;

Guitar must be in good working order . Wall outlet must have ground

9. I will determine if wall outlets are grounded as this is the only thing I haven't tried.

Appreciate you for taking time to answer my noob questions.

Should I repeat each question two times to have an answer ?

Wich guitar ? Single coil ? Single coil may do normal noise. Is the noise is normal ?
What is you experience with electric guitar and tubes amps ?

___________

A weak output tube may do some hum/ noise. Because the pair is unbalanced / non matched

What length cable? Less length is better. The lower the impedance the better imo and no more than 12 feet long. Make sure your not using a speaker cable w/ 1/4" connections.
Sounds like you need to try a different cable to me.
If your 2nd cable tried was the same brand/length.
Usually cables fail when the ground portion of the cable twists and the very fine wires fray. It doesn't take much to ruin the ground shield on some poorly made products.

I'm about to step out to get a guitar cable replacement. Will ask the tech at the shop what they think about it too. I am thinking of bringing the amp with me to test it at an entirely different location. Thank you for your insight!

Trying your amp at the store is a good idea, to make sure it isn't the amp or the input.

Plugging a cable into an amp with the other end not plugged into anything will always be noisy. So that's a meaningless, misleading diagnostic test.

Touch the tip of the bare plug with your finger and you'll be amazed at how much noise there is. That's the noise your body is picking up.

It's safe -- the amp shouldn't be sending power out through the input. But just in case your house outlets are mis-wired, be sure no part of your body is grounded when you touch the plug. Note that if your outlets are mis-wired, you're also at risk when you connect your guitar and touch the strings.
------------------
Noise sources in other rooms can indeed be picked up when you're playing.

Fluorescent lights, dimmer switches, motors, a variety of things emit radio noise. Unless you convert your playing room into a Faraday cage, noises can reach your guitar/amp.

Really strong noise emitters can even be outside your house and inject noise into your rig.

And as Stratele52 has repeatedly asked, what guitars are you using?

Since you ask if humbuckers might help, it's reasonably safe to guess your guitars have single-coil pickups.

Single-coils will pick up any buzz/hum being emitted by other devices.

Guys, if somebody won't answer simple questions and keeps insisting on skipping steps to steer some other direction, I stop trying to help.

Just saying.
