Hi - looking to pick up a Twin Amp (used) and the price is just $450 at a local retailer that sells new and used equipment, including Fender. Is there a reason why Twin Amp is priced that low? There's a Twin Reverb RI that is going used for $750. Aren't they supposedly in the same family of amps? The condition of both amps is pristine by the way...

It took a while to see his post uploaded but in the meantime I bought the amp. Haven’t really put it through much yet but will bring to my next gig and see. It does sound nice on low volumes at 1/4 power at home with my MIM Strat!

There were two versions of the "Twin Amp". '94/'95 to the early 2000's, and then an updated version for 5 or 6 years. The newer version had vibrato.

The Twin Reverb Reissue is part of the "Vintage Reissue Series". Both Twin Amps were part of the "Pro Tube Series". Different series, but about equal in terms of build quality and component quality. IIRC, the Pro Tubes were a little more expensive when new.

The "Twin Amps" replaced "The Twin" ("Red Knob Twin") in Fender's model lineup. All were channel-switching amps with master volume, fx loops, other modern features.

For some reason, none of them really caught on with consumers.

The clean channel is a little darker/warmer/fatter than the Twin Reverb. The drive channels are a matter of taste -- Fender isn't really known for great high gain except for the Prosonic.

I had a Pro-Tube Twin~Amp. (Black knob one) ThNow
ink I bought it around 2003-4 new. 2-12 100W BEAST!!!
The dirty channel was great for my gritty blues & rockabilly songs. But man, the clean channel was HUGE!!!
I sold it for $800 around 2012. It was just too heavy for gigs (it did have casters tho, shoulda kept the amp...kinda always sad I sold). If I remember correctly, the amp had a 25W downswitch, but I always left it at 100W cause to me it sounded better even at low volume on the full setting.

Anyways, CONGRATS man!

Now I play pretty much thru my cox 5E3 & sometimes thru my SS22. My 5E3 weighs like 25 lbs! Also, if I'm playing downtown outside on a day gig, then it's my 5E3 with single coils. If it's inside at night and a decent size room, then its my ss22 & my custom 22 with dragon II's. The difference in VOLUME with these 2 rigs is really amazing.
