Good evening,

I recently gota broken Fender Blues Deluxe to try to fix it and keep it. The thing is that the amp sound super really low, and the master pot is not changing volume at all, the sounds goes and goes down randomly (but really low and bad quality, not for playing at all at any level).

All the tubes get red.
Reverb it seems to don't work but at thosse volumen level it's impossible to notice it.
Eq pots works OK
Both inputs do the same.
Both channels work and do exactly the same.

Master doesn't work for both channels.

It's a Blues Deluxe Made in USA with serial T-333+9

If somebody can help me i can even make pictures of inside but i don't see anything unsual for now.

If you can help me with some troubleshooting it would be interesting for me for learning and keeping the amp.

I'm quite a rookie with electronics, but i can do almost everything in an amp or guitar.

Thank you!!

All tube get red ! Did you mean all tube heater glow or tubes get red plating ?
Low volume ;

Test with all know good tube, tubes tester is not reliable.
Output tubes bias are good or not ?
All voltage reading should be close as the schematic , do you look at it ?

Do those tests and report

I think a word of warning is in order here. There is a potential to seriously shock yourself while performing this type of work. You are (presumably) an adult so nobody is going to say you're not allowed to try doing it yourself. But a smart person does their due diligence before attempting this kind of task. If you're not confident ... Bring it to a professional.

Forgive me if you've already checked these things, but always start with the simplest things first:

Is the speaker plug inserted in the correct output jack? If it's plugged into the extension jack and nothing is plugged into the main output jack, you can get the symptoms you're having.

Have you verified that the speaker works properly? Typically a bad speaker either makes no sound, or is loud but distorted, but sometimes they'll put out a little bit of ugly sound.

Have you cleaned the fx loop jacks? Spray some contact cleaner in them and insert&remove a plug 10 times or so.

A dead tube can heat up and show the orange glow. Swap the preamp tubes one at a time with a known-good tube. (Rarely, a brand new tube can be dead when you buy it -- you need to do the test with a tube that you know works.)

If you only have a 12AT7 or a 5751 or a 7025, for the test you can use it in any of the preamp tube positions. And for the amp's two 12AT7's you can use a 12AX7.

If you have an old tube from another amp that you replaced because it was weak (but still working), you can use that one for testing.
---------------------
If you've checked all those, then start checking voltages as Stratele52 described.

Even when the amp is turned off, the filter caps can have a lethal charge. And obviously when you're checking voltages on an amp that's plugged in and turned on, there are a lot of ways to kill yourself.

Google "working on a tube amplifier safely" -- several good articles pop up. Read them thoroughly and follow the advice.

And be very careful.

It isn't supposed to. The "Master" pot only works on the Drive channel, along with the "Drive" pot. The "Volume" pot only works with the clean channel, and does not work on the "Drive" channel.

This is a Blues Deluxe, not a Deluxe reverb. Only 3 preamp/PI tubes in a Blues Deluxe, and typically are all 12AX7.

Oops. I just always assume Fenders have an AT7 reverb driver and PI even though I know a lot of them don't.

Hi everyone!

First of all, many thanks of all your answers and help, unfortunatelly i have not so much tools and "patience to try all". A tech guy will pick it up next Tuesday so i will not be able to touch it because it's to much at the moment.

For now i just tried add in new power amps but the result is the same...little bit louder but the same.

I recorded a little video so you can check anyway how "it doesnt' work"...as i discovered:

-Reverb still doesn't work
-Master works perfectly

Check it here:

If somebody has any guess it will be much appreciated.

Thank you again to all!

The only good thing about that is your playing. Hope it works out in the end.
