Hello,
I have a short question : Does the internal speakers of the Fender '65 twin Reverb turns of when you plug in a external cabinet?

No, it doesn't turn off the internal speakers.

If you want to only hear the extension cab, you have to unplug the internal speakers from the "main" speaker jack and plug the extension cab into the "main" jack (where the internal speakers were connected).

Do not plug the extension cab into the "extension" jack if you want to use the extension by itself.

The "main" jack is a shorting jack. A speaker (or an impedance load) must be plugged into the main jack anytime the amp is powered on. Damage to the output transformer or output tubes can occur if nothing is plugged into the "main" jack.

(Been a while since I looked -- the "main"jack may be labeled "internal" instead of "main".)

The extension speaker jack is only for when you want to run the internal speakers along with an extension cab, or if you want to run two extension cabs. (One cab plugged into the main jack, the other cab plugged into the extension jack.)

Fender currently says you can only connect a Twin Reverb to a 4 ohm load, and don't recommend running the internal speakers along with an extension cab.

They currently say to use only the internal speakers, or one 4 ohm cab, or two 8 ohm cabs.

But that's a recent change in stated policy. Liability or EU regs or something.

Historically their policy was you could use a 4ohm cab along with the internal speakers. Thousands and thousands of guitarists have done that with no problems over the past 50+ years.

A Twin Reverb can also safely handle a single 8 ohm load. Again, generations of guitarists have done that.

If this is related to your questions about the Palmer speaker simulator:

Unplug the internal speakers from the "main" jack. Plug a speaker cable into the "main" jack. Plug the other end of the speaker cable into the Palmer's "input" jack.

Consult the Palmer's instruction manual for how to set the controls on the Palmer, and which of the Palmer's outputs to connect to what.

A quick Google says the Palmer has 3 outputs. An XLR jack and two 1/4" jacks. It's possible one of the 1/4" jacks is a direct pass though intended to be plugged into a speaker cab so you can hear the amp while recording. If so, that jack would allow the Twin's full 85 watts to go to your recorder if you use it to connect to your recorder.

It's also possible the Palmer has switches that must be set correctly for safe silent recording.

Your money, your amp. I have no desire to download the Palmer's manual, read it, and repeat to you what it says.

Thanks dude,
There are 3 versions of the Palmer speaker simulator : 4 ohm,8ohm and 16 ohm. So for the Fender twin 4ohm version in the main speaker input would be perfect. Right?

Correct. The 4 ohm Palmer is the proper one to plug into the main speaker jack.
