I'v had a go on the Hot Rod and loved the sounds of it, but I heard the Blues deluxe has very similer sounds but vintage'd. So what one, the Blues Deluxe or the Hot Rod?

The Hot Rod was developed from the Blues Deluxe to offer the higher gain (more distorted) sound(s). The overdrive of a Blues Deluxe is mild and suits the older (vintage if you will) sounds of 60's and 70's plus does well for classic country.

So it would depend on your choice of music as to which would better suit you. Having said that, an overdrive pedal works well with the Blues Dlx to get you a crunchier, or dirtier sound.

Suggest you go to a store that stocks both, such as a Guitar Cntr. and try them side by side.

I like both amps, but my personal choice is the BDRI.

Yea, I think I would choose the Blues Deluxe if it gives more vintage sounds because thats what sorta' sound I'm trying to get. Thanks for the reply.

I think I would say that the overdrive sound produced by the BDRI more so fits the sounds of the fifties or sixties. It reminds me of Muddy Water's sound from that era. It doesn't breakup much, unless it's crank to ear splitting levels. But it is touch sensitive. Good luck in choosing the right amp. I love my BDRI and have recently purchased a Tonebone Trimode Classic to get a dirtier sound. Some people like the TS-9.
