Purchased a new 68 Princeton re-issue on 1/1/18. Amp vibrates at any volume above 2 whenever I pay an A through C note on the low E string. I am using an Am Pro Strat SSS with the guitar volume on 10. Was told by Fender customer service that this is a known issue with this amp. Also was told this is not something they intend to fix. Their advice was to wedge some wood in the cabinet, put some dampening material in the cabinet or try an amp stand. $899.99 for a rattle cage..........thanks.

Does anyone else have this problem? Can anyone offer some advice on what I can do to make the vibration go away since Fender won't?

It is supposed to vibrate, that’s how the speaker produces sound. Do you mean that you are hearing a rattle/buzzing sound?

btw, it’s not a “reissue”, it is a “vintage modified” series.

Por favor, disculpe mi español, no se llega a la práctica con mucha frecuencia.

+1

Paulie105,
I'll test the amp with chassis outside the cab see what happened.

When they introduced the '65 Princeton (the model the '68 is based on) it had severe rattle problems.

BillM's fix was to retrofit a bracket connecting the bottom of the chassis to the top rear of the baffle and had an illustrated tutorial on his website. Other people added a wood cleat along the top of the baffle to stiffen it.

Then Fender started using a thicker baffle and the complaints went away.

I'm surprised that the problem has reappeared on the '68. But after googling "68 Princeton Reverb rattle" I do find many reports of the issue. Disappointing.
