Blue Notes, the point we are trying to make is, you say "its good", but how do you know you don't have a power supply problem if you don't actually check. Case in point, a member of this forum, bluesky636, actually had a much lower power supply voltage than the schematic spec, but didn't check it until after he had tried new tubes. It was only when he checked the Plate voltage, that he learned that he had a problem.

I guess that experience has to slap some of us in the face before we learn to never assume. And yes, if you don't check, you are assuming, can't deny that.

Just checked plate voltage, it’s 415, and plate current is 25 mA, now what?

Sounds like about 10 watts.

yep, just over 10 watts. Which amp Blue Notes?

Sounds similar to a Deluxe Reverb, and if so, your bias is in a good range, just a tad over 70%.

Plate voltage x Plate current = idle wattage. A 6V6 being a 14 watt tube, and if you are aiming for 70% idle, your numbers look very good.

Awesome job! And now you can also have piece of mind knowing that all is well.

So in this case, it worked out to be just a little on the hot side, but only a little over 70% of spec.

But had the plate voltage been only 350, you'd be at just under 9w, a little cold, closer to 60%, but not bad if you are happy with the softer breakup.
OTOH, if the plate voltage were only 35v higher at 450, you'd be at just over 11w and on the hot side closer to 80%.

Without checking the plate voltage, you don't know.

Thanks Shimmilou. Yes it’s a ‘65 Deluxe Reverb Reissue (Special Edition).

That is a beautiful amp.

Thanks Rich, yeah I love the blonde, and wheat.

It sounds wonderful, no reverb hum, no vibrato clicking, quite as a mouse, and just beautiful clean tone.

Ya, I remember your videos when you got the new axe, because every time we buy a new amp we have to buy a new guitar for it... that's how I got my '17 Am Special... wife bought me a Marshall 15w CF for my birthday :D
