Hi,

I have the above amp which has served me well for over 10 years. Went to use the other day and now has no power - The power light no longer illuminates and there is no hum or other noise to indicate the unit is receiving power. Have changed the 5A fuse in the plug which powers it but no joy. Any ideas welcome - Assume there might be an internal fuse but as yet have not opened the amp up.

Thanks in advance, Mike :-)

Was the fuse blown?

Huge range of possible causes. Power switch may have failed. Push-on connector may have come unplugged. Power transformer may have failed.

I once thought my amp was broken only to discover that it was plugged into a switched socket and the power was turned off at the socket.

Be cautious when you open up the amp. The filter caps can store a high charge. Typically they discharge through draining resistors when the amp is turned off while plugged in, but you should never bet your life on that. Especially when the amp has a total failure -- the caps may not have a path to ground.
