Hi! Everyone, i own a Fender Champion 100 and i was trying to come close to The Money for Nothing (Dire Straits)
tone, i also use a wah pedal half engaged. Could someone share his settings with me? Most of the time i use a app on my I Pad and directly into the amp so it's ok but i'd like to use the amp just by itself! i wish you all a nice day!

Matt

Knopfler can't duplicate it exactly. Part of the magic was two mics at different distances from the cab -- phase notches and a mix of dry with the room ambience.

It was a Les Paul into a half-cocked wah into a cranked Marshall, probably a JTM45. (Some say it was a Laney.)

Live with his Soldano he ran the gain around 6, t/m/b 8/7/3. Pensa Suhr strat with bridge humbucker.

Fingers, no picks.

So on your C100 either a British or Tweed voicing. Soldanos are high gain so you'll need to set gain somewhat higher than the above figures. Tone controls in that general ballpark.

You don't mention what sort of guitar you're using?

You're welcome!

While it may be almost impossible to exactly duplicate that awesome tone, it's not too hard to come up with something close enough to satisfy.

I've heard people come "close enough" just with a bright distorted amp and a single-coil Strat neck pickup with the guitar's tone knob turned all the way down. No wah.

That's also an approximation of Clapton's "woman tone" from his Disraeli Gears era.

Not exact in either case, but similar. If your playing captures the feel few listeners would complain about the tone.

Just so cool with Tonebridge cause you have nothing to do ;) but I’d like to make it with the amp!

Well, Dallas TX to Greensboro NC is a little farther than the distance from Paris to Lisbon so I probably won't run into your family.

But 10 years ago I lived in Asheboro NC, in the Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point "Piedmont Triad". And in 2000 I bought my main Strat in Raleigh.

I have family in NC and Virginia too.

Hmmm. My late aunt in the Virginia branch was born in France. Married my uncle there just after WWII.

Who knows -- we may be distantly related.
