Hi everyone, I've got a question regarding the fender champion 100 amp. I've got a 100 watt extension speaker and i was wondering if i can "connect" this to the amp described above. If not, how can i use my extension speaker and what do i need for it? I was really hoping anyone could help since im a beginner on the subject of extension speakers. Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum! The basics of connecting speakers are relatively simple, but if you're starting from scratch the terms and concepts may be confusing. Hang in there, be patient, and ask as many questions as you can think of. We all started from nothing and learned as we went along.

I tried to download the Champion 100 manual, but my phone says "multi_pdf." is an invalid format and can't be viewed.

So I did a Google image search. The combo has two 16ohm speakers in parallel for a total load of 8 ohms. No extension jack, and the speaker wires appear to be hardwired to the amp chassis.

No marking for minimum impedance, so the only safe thing to assume is that the minimum is 8ohms.

So, if your ext cab is 8 or 16 ohms, you could unplug the wires from the amp to the speakers and rig up an adapter to use the extension cab instead.

Unless the ext cab/speakers are much better than the combo's I don't see any reason to do that.

Unless you get another amp with an extension output jack, or get an amp head, your extension cab is pretty much just a huge paperweight.

Curious what type and brand of cab it is. Brand, open back or closed back or ported, number&size&type of speakers, impedance of the individual speakers, and total impedance of the cab?

Since you describe yourself as a complete beginner when it comes to extension cabs, words like "impedance", "ohms", "total load", "parallel/series" may be meaningless to you.

If so, Google "speaker impedance". There are lots of web pages written by people who teach basic electronics, by speaker manufacturers, by audio professionals. They've already explained the basics, generally better than someone writing a forum post will.

There are lots of reasons why combo amps exist. One reason is that many guitarists just want to plug in and play, without having to learn/understand electrical theory.

Companies have made behemoth 4x12 and 6x10 100watt combos because some people would rather throw out their backs and suffer hernias instead of dealing with ohms.

Don't mess with (modify) the Champion 100 use it and enjoy it....it's already 100 watts through TWO speakers.

Save up some cash, and buy a Tube amp head for the cabinet...then you'll have a Solid State amp (the Champion), and a Tube amp.

M.rts,

Champion 100 don't have a output speakers jack.
It need a mod to use a external cab. If you want to make this mod , begin to learn basic ohms and electronic soldering. Easy with Google and us
If not, use it as it
