Can a Cyber Twin SE have independent control over the amp selection from the effects section? Meaning; I would like the have my 4 main amp tones in Quick Access via the foot switch and the choose any of the effects via a remote MIDI pedal without changing the amp patches.

I was looking in the Utilities and MIDI mapping section to see if the effects could be assigned to a different MIDI channel independent from the amp section.

Any one doing this with their CT?

I don’t have a SE, I have a FE, yet I think they are not very different in this regard.

I don’t think this stompbox functionality as you want to use it is possible. Reverb is in the amp section, so you essentially have one effect beyond the amp reverb on a Cyber Twin. There are a few combo fx, as you know, but the combos aren’t very good imo. If you wanted to use the comboFX, that is the only way you would acheive some sort of stompbox functionality.

You have a few options I can think of off the top of my head to get this stompbox functionality....some will require more midi control and set up than using only the 4 favorite spots.

1- use the fx on/off footswitch if you have one. I don’t have one.

2- Copy your main sounds to multiple preset slots with different fx and switch presets. You will still have FX drop outs if changing presets mid song, which is unavoidable eith only one Cyber Twin. The reverb and preAmp settings shouldn’t really glitch, tho, since CT “instantly switches”....I am not certain of that, tho.

3- Use the 4 fave slots but use a midi (foot)controller expression pedal to turn fx on or off....most likely you would use fx level mapped to your midi expression pedal. It might be a good idea to have a second expression pedal for the qtr inch jack and control another parameter at the same time. You would of course be stuck with whichever effect you have set to each of your main 4 faves.

Midi mixer type controller will give you a lot more options, yet only really in allowing instant access to ALOT more parameters Real Time; still not stompbox functionality unless you use the comboFX.

It takes a fair while to set up, but is amazing once you get it working. Sadly, Cyber Twin is not designed to allow 14bit high resolution 16,000 step midi, it is 7bit 127 step only. Fadefox makes some interesting midi controllers (small, not cheap)

You might be able to try to route the encoder increment and decrement cc to change fx with your 4 faves. You’d need a midi increment/decrement device. I don’t know if that would work. I will check that out this weekend. Here is a thread about midi controllers
https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/midi-foot-controllers.1877242/

I know it seems obvious nowadays, but Fender wasn’t really thinking stompbox back then.

OK, yeah, I just checked how the encoder works...
you need a midi controller or footcontroller to get a semblance of what you want to do with a CT.

When you are on a preset; the encoder is set to change presets/programs, so that isn't gonna work, I was wrong.

Save your presets with FX level at "0" and map to expression pedal or midi controller knob or fader. You could map a button for on/off, although I haven't found that way to be very reliable....not as reliable as mapping CCs to an expression pedal or midi controller.

otherwise you are looking at separate fx whether in the loop or in front of the input

Thank you for all that, much appreciated! I can now see their could be a work around that might do the trick. I'll do some more figuring.

Cheers.

Hey 83Capri,
it's nice to talk to anyone about Cyber Twin, it doesn't look like there are that many of us anymore :-)

Good luck and report back whatever setup you configure.

cheers,
_todd
