Given that the Bassbreaker 15 tone controls work in an active fashion not just subtractive filtering. i.e. When Bass, Middle and Treble are at zero there is no output;
what settings give what could be considered a flat/neutral tone? On some amps it might be fully clockwise, on others it may be the 12 o'clock position, yet others may not have the controls in the same position at all to achieve a "Flat" response.
I've had my BB 15 for two days now and I'm loving it. I was using a Valveking II 20 before and it sounded nowhere near as good as this and it gave me a lot of problems (which I won't list right now  )
I can happily arff around finding my own tones, and I will, but it would be useful for me to know what is considered the Flat/Neutral setting to use as a starting point.

Note - I'm getting my wrists slapped for calling it Flat here and another forum but I cant go and edit it out or it will make the replies look wrong. Oh! the humiliation ... :|

Define “flat”.

The amp is advertised as having a "British" flavor. That pretty much sounds like "not flat" to me right off the bat. EL-84 tubes do different stuff than 6V6s or 6L6s or EL-34s. All different voices, none of them “flat”.

So, the question becomes, ”flat" compared to what? Plugging straight into a P.A., with all those woofers and tweeters? No “guitar” speaker coloration? The Celestion G12V-70 speaker reproduces a frequency range of 70-5000 Hz. Any P.A.s are going to go way below and way above that. Is that “flat”?

Your thoughts….

OK Guilty. I shouldn't have confused matters by using the word "Flat".
In my defence I Did couple it with "Neutral" but you're right "Flat" just muddies the waters.
So going with "Neutral", what I'm after is if there are positions for the Bass, Middle and Treble tone controls where they themselves are neither cutting or boosting the signal as it passes through their part of the circuitry. Acknowledging, of course, that the overall amplifier and speaker combination will have a "voicing" of it's own that is not going to be "Flat" at all and may well actually be incapable of a "Flat" response by any combination of it's controls.

I'm sorry I didn't respond sooner. I thought I had set a Notification on this Topic but clearly I was mistaken.
It took me till now to look it up and see that there was a reply. So thank you for replying.

From using the BB15 I've come to favouring two "Starting Points" when first setting a tone.
#1 - with BMT all at the nominal "6", fourth gradation, roughly at 1 o'clock.
There appears to plenty of all three bands there with neither predominating particularly.
#2 - With BMT all full up at 10, 5 o'clock'ish, 6th gradation.
All three bands well represented but perhaps a bit of peaking here and there, nice and bright though.
All that before bringing the Bright switch into play.

One day a schematic will appear for the Bassbreaker 15, then we will be able to see how the Tone section actually works.
Not knowing hasn't stopped me for a second from enjoying this excellent amplifier though.
Even when it's Headphones only time in the middle of the night. XLR > baby mixer > phones.
