Hey guys,

I'm looking for a tube amp under $500 to go along with my Fender Strat. Preference towards clean tones and a good overdrive. Not much inclined towards a crunch tone, straight from the amp. Have my processor for that.

As of now, am looking at an Ibanez TSA15 Tube Screamer Tube Amp.

Looking for suggestions!!

I have an Egnater Tweaker 15, one of the best amps I have ever owned for a clean deep tone as well as bright if you want that. I effect it with pedals for overdrive and reverb. http://www.egnateramps.com/EgnaterProdu ... rHead.html I have owned an Ibanez TSA15 head and I sent it back after a few weeks.

I have the TSA 30 head, its a great amp, and after some tube swapping, it sounds fantastic. Seems to be nice quality construction. The boost is nice, doesn't change the clean tone much, just louder. Great clean tones, and of course the TSA 30 combo would be more than $500, but I preferred the TSA 30 with 6L6 over the TSA 15 with 6V6, for more headroom and clean volume. The built in Tube Screamer makes both amps appealing, and I'm sure the quality is the same for both amps.

Another consideration is the Bugera V22, the combo is under $500.

I have a 1990 head, and a T50 head, I like them both and the quality seems to be top notch. The cleans of the V22 with EL84s is probably more towards a Vox-like sound, while the Ibanez would be more of an American traditional sound.

I wouldn't rule out good used amps. That really opens up quite a variety. There are some under $500 new though. I would also consider the Roland Blues Cube Hot at $499. It is solid state but beats the tone of many of the lower priced tube amps. One of the guys I jam with has one and it sounds fantastic. There are several videos online. Good luck in your search.
