Has anyone bought or tried out the new hand-wired '64 Custom Deluxe Reverb? They just came out a couple of weeks ago. I'm curious how they stand up to a regular '65 DRRI.

Looks to me that for a mere $1500 more (than a DRRI) you get a pine cab and a hand wired board.

The 64 is hand wired and a pine cab. I just saved you $1500+ dollars ... youre welcome.

There are a few reviews posted to YouTube.

I think it's worth it.

I don't look for this to be a big seller. The '65 DR may not be hand wired but it offers killer tone at a much more affordable price. If you have to have hand wired (which I don't) I would look at vintage amps.

This model won't last long.
Fender does not linger very long in the high priced market.
They know their bread is buttered in the lower ranges.
They've done this before on several occasions.
They bring a high end, high priced amp to market in small numbers but there is only one batch of them made and when they sell out, that's it.
They do this to satisfy the small minority who want something more.
They do it for people like me.
If I wasn't already stocked up on amps, I'd be buying one.
Unfortunately, Fender's timing always seems to be wrong for me.
I just purchased a high end amp recently, before I knew about the existence of the '64 and I really like my new amp so I won't be making any changes.
Same thing happened when they released the '63 Vibroverb.
I had already taken a different path and just missed it.

Easy to see the obvious things about this: the pine cabinet, the hardwired build, made in the USA and the tremelo and reverb in both channels but is this the same trem circuit as in the 65 reissue? I understand that this is a completely different circuit than normal blackfaces... tube bias verses optocoupler. is this true? can anyone verify this?

bought one- played it.... sounded great but the reverb was so intense that it was causing a vibrating of the tank in the back and generating a feedback. I tried to understand why this was happening and if it was a design flaw, a specific product that i ordered or something that simply came loose in shaping. In the end, I couldn't get any concrete answers so I sent it back and am waiting for a replacement. Just wanted to make sure I was getting an undamaged amp for the 2500 price. everything was just killer... volume was awesome, the quality was excellent, it sounded and felt good for what I spent. New one on the the way.

The two things vintage amps have over the modern versions is the eyelet board and handwired tube sockets.
The eyelet construction is much more reliable than pc boards.
The hand wired sockets have loose pins the isolate tubes from vibration of the chassis. This greatly lengthens tube life and reduces microphonics compared with modern tube amp construction.
You still see old Fenders on the bandstand for a reason. They hang together on the road. This new construction looks like a faithful reproduction that should be a road trooper for a long time to come.
The porcelain power tube sockets are a nice touch that adds reliability as well.
Since there's a limited supply of vintage amps, repros by the original manufacturer is the next best thing.

I've been thinking on this for a while now.
I kicked myself when I missed out on the '63 VV.
The 6G16 was always my dream amp of all dream amps and the AA763 DR was always my 3rd choice, behind the VR, which is not an option at this time.
I'm not going to miss out on the '64 DR, too.
Money isn't quite as free and easy as I would like but I'm going to make this work come hell or high water.
There are none of these anywhere near where I live.
I have one on order.
It's happened before where I ordered something 'special' and I was too late and the order was rescinded due to lack of availability.
Here's hoping I'm not too late this time.

Good luck I do hope one shows up at your door, the 64 DR looks to be a great amp, I too would like one but right now I don't gig and I have the amps I need so I will keep dreaming

Or you could buy a vintage late 60's silverface for about $1000 less.

I had to put that deal on hold indefinitely.
Hell and high water both decided to redefine themselves for me.
I think they get their advise from Murphy.
There will be no new amps in my immediate future.
On the plus side, I might decide to finish a project I've let sit for far too long.

Stuff happens. There's so many things I would like to do, but I'm running out of time and resources. On the plus side, I need to focus on what can reasonably be done and whether it matters. :)

You probably just cost me $1500.

OTOH, I have a router, a dovetail jig, and know which end of a soldering iron to hold... I've been wanting to build a nice tube amp for years.
