I purchased this amp and it didn't come with a footswitch. I'm planning on building one as per Hot Rod Deluxe or the Stage 100, 160 schematic. The only question I have is that the Deluxe shows a Stereo jack and the Stage shows a Mono jack. They both have the same assembly number also. Which jack is correct for the 212R?

Anyone who owns this amp take a picture of the footswitch innards?

I don't know if you prefer to build one yourself, but they sell them on this Fender website. I'm going to order one from this website for my Frontman 25R amp.

I do prefer I make it myself on some level but if the cost of me making it is more than just purchasing it.. I will just buy it. I know the site has none in stock right now.

There's quite a bit of info available on this site. If you look up the Amp (under product) and then click on spec. it will show you the P/N of the appropriate footswitch. Also, there is an section under amplifier accessories, footswitches that shows P/N's and interchangeability of the footswitches. Finally there is a section where you can get schematics for many amps and footswitches. You just need to take some time and search.

Ok Mr. Holier than Thou.. Since you inserted your foot.. I like to inform you that I did take the time and search the site.. I'm beyond those steps.

If you read my original post, my question the same model number footswitch in one schematic shows that it has a mono jack and the other schematic has a stereo jack.

At the risk of receiving additional verbal abuse and name-calling, I will try to help you with your question.

I have looked at three on-line schematics (Fender website): FM212R (dwg # 0061536000), HRDlx (dwg# 050397), and Stage 100/160 (0054255000).

The FM212R schematic does not show the footswitch, but does show the footswitch jack (sector C"8") on the amp. It is mono.

Both the HRDlx and the Stage100/160 have schematics of the footswitch itself in sector A6-A8 pg.2 and C"8" pg1 respectively. Both show the use of a mono jack. On the Stage 100/160 dwg just above the footswitch schematic (sector D"8"), I see that the input jacks (for the instrument cable) are Stereo jacks, but I see no conflict for the footswitches of one dwg vs. the other. Perhaps you misread the dwg?

I do not have this particular footswitch to physically look at, but based on the drawings the jack is mono.

Additionally, you can get one here: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ ... sku=420713 currently in stock @$40 (versus the msrp of $49.99)

I hope that this is helpful to you and that you are having a less grumpy day! :D

Thanks for the reply RVM.

You are correct I did misread the Hot Rod Deluxe schematic on Drawing 2 Grid A 8 a J1 I read that as a Stereo jack.

Your 2nd response was a more of a warm welcome instead of an accusation of me not doing research before posting. Just because a question is asked don't assume the research wasn't completed and if it wasn't completed try and be a little more welcoming because sometimes it's hard to locate answers. I know it's a pain in the butt sometimes to re chew your cabbage. However some people lack the knowledge on how to dig up information on their own. So instead of telling someone to "You just need to take some time and search".. lend a hand. You had to crawl before you learned to walk.

Again I appreciate the 2nd response.

I am under the impression that the FM212R is the same chassis as the FM100H, the specifications seem the same, and the width is wider than necessary for the components in the head, (wide enough to accomodate a couple of 12's in the combo cabinet). My footswitch uses a speaker cable(mono), to control both functions. If you look at what Fender has been doing for quite a while, the footswitches drop a fixed resistance, which causes an IC to switch the relay on the board, to control the particular function requested. You would need to find out what the voltage requirments are before attempting to build your switch. Probably cheaper to buy one of the factory switch boxes, (mine has 2 switches). FWIW, I replaced the little reverb box in my head unit with a real Accutronics 4 series unit, and the reverb is as lush as a Twin.
