Hi there
Any suggestions for good and trusted sites that offer mods for HRDx amps?
I'm curious as to what people have done, what the results were etc.
Maybe somebody has tried to make a more "black-face" amp or a "tweed" sound from it or somethingelse?

Just curious to the possibilities.

Mine is still stock but I'm looking for ideas to maybe make it a little more vintage sounding as I really can't afford a real vintage amp :)

So any websites/ideas/resources you would care to recommend?

Thanks in advance

My advise is to not waste your money and effort. They are great as they are.

I put in a Cannabis Rex speaker and JJ tubes, one of the best sounding amps I ever owned, and I have owned many many amps. I also put a Carl's Guitars Volume Box in the efx loop, and turn it down 1/4 turn to cut down on the shrill....

desertbluesman has pointed you in the correct general direction.
His suggestion of the Cannabis Rex may or may not be your speaker of choice but either way, one thing is very true; changing the speaker is likely the fastest and easiest way to make a significant difference in how your amp sounds.
It could easily be the most significant difference as well, besides being the easiest.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I have made a few changes to my HRDlx over the years, but probably the most significant was to change the preamp tubes to lower gain tubes. Namely, a 5751 in V1, and a 12AT7 in V3 (PI), leaving a 12AX7 in V2. This made the drive channel sound noticeably better, and still retained the great clean sound that I liked in the first place, which is why I bought the amp to begin with. With the lower gain tubes, using the drive channel, with the drive pot used moderately, there is a nice vintage breakup sound. Turning up the drive and/or switching to more drive, gives a great distortion/rock sound.

After many years of enjoying the amp stock, I made the tube changes, and tried several different speakers. Finally settling on the Eminence Swamp Thang. The replacement speaker was also a noticeable improvement, basically a deeper, richer sound. I also changed the speaker in the ext cab (was a G12P80), to a Swamp Thang, as the G12 was just too dark in the closed back cab.

I replaced my speaker with a WGS ET65. Replaced V1 tube with a 5751, V2 with a 12DW7. I also plug into input 2. HUGE improvement.

AFAIK, the 12DW7 tube has two different triode halves. One similar to the 12AX7 and the other similar to the 12AU7. It would be interesting to see which half is doing what, when you subbed it into your amp.

All I know is, the drive channel is now useable.

This is what I did to mine.

Celestion Vintage 30
12AT7 in V1
R103 delete, makes the reverb way nicer

These are super easy to do.
The speaker swap being the most expensive.
Replacing one tube is very cheap.
Cutting out one leg on the resistor is free.
