Hi,

I'm trying to date a Fender '65 Super Reverb reissue. The serial number on the back starts with "CR" followed by a six-digit number. Does anyone here have any insight on this?

Thanks in advance!

First, if I were you I would just make the call with that six-digit number. Tell her you would like to pick her up at her place and take her to a fine and fancy restaurant. At this point mention the name of the place. Bring some flowers with you when you pick her up and bring a nice vase or vahz. A Corsage will help too. Little things like this will show her how awesome you really are.

Good luck!

Really sorry and just had to. <g> I would call Fender in the morning, they are good with their support in this area.

You have a couple options:

Contact Fender at consumerrelations@fender.com

Or you can look inside the cab for a QA sticker that may have a date on it. Also, speakers if original have EIA codes on them and can be dated.

Ampwares has lots of good info on your amp along with the EIA codes for different speakers to help with searching out the date:

Superior Music has some good info on dating all sorts of Fender Amps:

If all else fails, there is a date written on the circuit board.

When I try to date an amp, I usually ask it to dinner.

The Jensen P10Rs will have a number stamped on the edge of the frame: "220xxyy".

"220" means it's a Jensen. Gee, thanks.

"xx" is the year, i.e., "05" means 2005. "15" is 2015.

(Or 1905, but 999.99% more likely, 2005. Jensens from the 50's or 60's might have a single digit, as in "5", for "1965". But, I digress.)

"yy" is the week of manufacture. Now we need Google, because if this code is not "01", it's from a week other than the first week of the year (January 1st to January 7th).

Super fun time!
