I go to manual, select preset 32, make various changes to settings and hit save - display it says 'no'
Unable to save anything
Is this a fault ?
Manual is not clear about how to save user presets
Can anyone help out please
Thanks

I'm no expert with Fender's Cyber amps but in my experience, anything that allows users to save their own presets usually requires two steps to save. Are you confirming your save?

Solved
You have to turn off protection
Remember to turn it on after saving :)

I'm revisiting this topic to see if anyone has any good patches?

I've had one of these for quite some time, but never tweaked it much. It is the
upgraded version 1.1

These are decent, but hoping someone has others to share :

Fender threw the Cyber Series (Champ, Deluxe, Twin) under the bus several years ago and they've done the same just recently with their proprietary FUSE software.

Tough luck.

I have a couple of CyberTwins. I always struggled to get good sounds because of the position you need to be at when setting parameters: arm's length from the controls.

In 2017 I started experimenting with using a midi controller. I am not talking about a midi footcontroller for program changes...I am talking about a mixer-like midi controller.

That lead me to create an ipad remote using Midi Designer Pro 2. The ability to adjust parameters wirelessly from the optimum amp throw position (where it sounds best) is a game changer. With my ipad remote control it is possible to tweak parameters from across the room and you can realize the best the amp and fx have to offer.

I looked at the midi cc assignments of the Cyber Deluxe and they may well be the same. I also expect there are strong similarities with the SysEx implementation meaning menu diving could be avoided / bypassed and you tweak away without having your ears in an inferior location (right next to the amp). Even if the sysex isn't identical, I'd expect only slight variations required using my CyberTwin remote. My remote is not for sale, it's just something I made that I would be happy to share. PM me if interested.

Dig down in this forum and you can see some screen shots of my remote control. It really does change the game, yo!

This has kinda gotten me interested in purchasing a Cyber Deluxe =-D

Right, well, I have now compared the midi specs between Cyber Deluxe and CyberTwin. Some might think this stuff is over their head, but it is pretty simple once you jump through the hoops.

SysEx-wise:
The Deluxe has only "Amp Type Selection" which is somewhat like "Drive Circuitry" on the CyberTwin. The CyberTwin has a much more complicated/ flexible ability to mix 5 or 6 different "Tone Stack Type" with the 16 various "Drive Circuitry" levels and position the Tone Stack before Drive or vice versa. Looks like Fender went with certain combos to achieve a similar effect on the Deluxe.

To convert my remote control to Cyber Deluxe, not much editing would be required. Only the "Amp ID" bit would need be changed from 11 for first edition (or 12 for SE) to 21 for Deluxe.

The Parameter IDs would need to be changed to suit the Deluxe and then the buttons in the Midi Designer Pro 2 app's layout would need to be relabelled which would be equally simple. The Deluxe and Twin use a slightly different parameter layout, but the SysEx is similar enough to port my CyberTwin Midi Designer Pro 2 layout to Deluxe in an hour or two.

MIDI CCs are quite similar, too. Although, Fender opted to mix things up a bit where they have swapped the CCs for FX and Reverb parameters. Looks like the Deluxe has extended CCs for Delay parameter controls beyond the CT. The CT has 5 FX CCs that access different parameters depending upon the effect loaded. CyberDeluxe goes beyond the CT by having 4 parameter controls for Modulation FX and another 4 parameters for Delay params. That alone interests me in getting a Cyber Deluxe.

Reverb params are the same on both amps but with different CC numbers. The Amp controls (Gain, Volume, Treble, Middle, Bass) are identical CCs. Master Volume has two CCs for both amps which is intended easily work with a midi footcontroller expression pedal on CC 07; but in the Fender Midi CC area (85-125) they swapped Master Vol and Reverb Level between the CD and CT.

In any event, my MDP2 layout could be easily modified to work the CyberDeluxe. If I get time I will knock one up. Should only take me a couple of hours. The trickiest thing would be modifying the controls' layout to "look nice". Another bank of 4 faders would need to be created for the extra Delay parameters.

OK...I was dismissing the Cyber Deluxes in my previous searches...I have found one nearer to me (In NorthWest France) for about 200euros :-)
