I have a DRRI with a TRS style footswitch for the reverb & vibrator. When unplugged, the reverb works fine and the vibrato is off (by design apparently). With the footswitch plugged in, the vibrato channel works via the switch, but the reverb no longer works. I thought I had a bad switch, because it wasn't clicking, so I replaced it with a new Carling swtich (https://www.tubesandmore.com/products/s ... der-others). It still does not work. I am a novice when it comes to electronics, so I wasn't sure if on the new switch there was a specific ground/hot to worry about or not.

Any ideas on what else I could look at?

In my experience look for the correct Fender footswitch for a DRRI. I have found that even some Fender footwitches that do the same thing don't work on certain models.

+1

Any of the re-issue blackface footswitches will work.

just picked up a multimeter yesterday. not entirely sure how to test for the short, as I'm new to all of this. I put it on the continuity setting and I felt like it was beeping in situations when it shouldn't.

Am I correct that if I touch the reverb hot connection at the footswitch and the other end of the cable (I can unscrew the connector to get to the wire) it should beep. But it shouldn't beep if I touch the reverb's hot connection at the footswitch and the ground at the other end, right? or does the switch have to be on for it not to beep.

Sorry, i'm sure I sound like an idiot, and when it comes to this, currently I am a novice. So any direction would be great. I'll look for some videos on youtube to do some learning as well. It was late last night when I got to this.

With meter probes ( ohms scale ) touch + and - on the FS reverb plug. *

When switching foot switch in one position you should not read 0 ohms or very close.
If you read 0 or close ( 1, 1,5 ohms ) in both positions , switch or cable is défective

* Or one meter probe on each wire on the Carling switch terminal ( reverb )
