Could anyone tell me about the shielding tape one would encounter during a speaker swap on a first generation Hot Rod DeVille 212? I will be swapping the speaker pair out soon and have seen references to be careful with that tape, but I'm not sure where along the chassis it's located or how to remove and re-apply it. Is it just a matter of peeling it back and re-applying by hand? Something else?

I've removed amps from their cabinets for similar work before (biasing) including my Prosonic combo and full sized heads but have not encountered shielding tape along the way.

Thanks

After you pull the rear cover, the silver shielding tape is on the right inside edge of the cabinet, near the input jack.
Some early amps are missing the tape and I've seen a few where it was installed on the transformer end. Now it's installed on both ends.
On many SS fenders this tape gets torn up a lot during removal, but on yours, its only going back in that the chassis flanges may hook the tape and tear it.
The usual drill is to bend the metal tabs that stick out of the chassis back inwards to make for an easier reinstall.
If the tape does get torn, a one inch paint scraper can tease it back unto position. Then use the rounded back end of a screwdriver to press the adhesive back onto the case.
There is not much clearance and a wrinkled shield can make the reinstall a study in frustration.
