Why not just mic both amps (a Shure SM-57 works great!) and run them through the mains via the stage mixer ?

He means put a mic in front of each of your amps, and run them to your mixer, channel 1 and channel 2 for example. Use your amps for stage volume, and your mic signal will come through the mains. Good Luck.

OR as an alternative, IF your amps have a "pre-amp out" (often used as an effects loop) with a 1/4" jack, you may connect them via an instrument cable to the 1/4" input to a channel on the mixer and adjust the volume on the mixer to suit what you want coming out of the mains. Also, if your amps have a "line out" (which they probably don't), run an XLR cable (mic cord) to one of the channels of the mixer and again adjust volume to suit.

Many tone freaks believe that using a mic positioned in front of and slightly off-centered to your amp's speaker gives the best sound. Perhaps that's true when recording, but I cannot tell any difference (from using the "pre-amp" 1/4" cord connection) in a live situation.
