Hello
Thats is the question, never used attenuator before and want one for the Bassman 59.
Hotplate seems better on paper, but what you say experienced people??.

Regards!

A friend of me test my weber Mass attenuator with his Hotplate, not side by side. He like both.
Weber can use many impedance , not Hotplate.

Buy from second hand, the first you see with a good deal.

I have a '65 Deluxe Reverb Reissue and I just picked up the Weber Minimass 50w. I think it sounds great. Wish I bought it 10 years ago. I've never had my amp above 3 really before and the difference in tone you get is incredible. Not only that, not the volume/tone knobs on my guitar actually make differences. On the flip side, my buddy has a THD Hotplate for his Hot Rod Deville and he hasn't had any issues either. I ordered the weber with a custom headphone jack on the back and it was still about half as expensive as the hotplate, was built to order and I had it in less than a week.

Only thing to worry about is now that I am getting such better sounds it made me want to get a new speaker and get some new pickups/electronics for my guitar. lol

Not a whole bunch of difference but my ears do prefer the Weber.
I think my vision of the future prefers the Weber as well.
Never know when you might need the versatility, down the road.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
