I have 2 rigs, 1. Fender DeLuxe Reverb with Fender G112 Cab, and 2. Vox Pathfinder SLR15 Head with 4x8 Cab.
I use a few pedals, and am now looking at getting a Fulltone Full-Drive. One is the FD2 with Mosfet and the other has no Mosfet. I'm not sure which one to use. My guitars are a Standard Fender USA Telecaster and a Fender USA Special Strat.
Any suggestions please?

I see any "no" mosfet Fultone Full- drive on Fultone link

Mosfet transistors are the most closer solid state to a tube tone.
I'll go for mosfet

Thanks for the reply. Can you confirm that you suggest I buy the non
Mosfet and not the Mosfet 2?

Fulldrive 2 Mosfet has a switch with mosfet and standard. I recommend it.

Thanks for all replies, I tried out both and also Fultone OCD, and finally decided on the OCD

You'll find you get the best results with Fulltone's OCD when powering it with an 18 VDC wall wart.

There's overdrive ... and then there's overdrive.
Some are more transparent and open sounding.
Others can be thicker, crunchier, more compressed and more opaque.
The Fulltones mentioned above fall into the first category.
There are other overdrives that are more searing.

Open is a word we use to describe dynamic.
Compressed is the other side of that dynamic.

It depends on what kind of tone you're looking for.

Then there's distortion, which is a little different in the way the waveform clips but those pedals also have some that are more open and some that are more compressed.

The OCD, as Arjay mentioned, sounds more open when powered by an 18V supply.

Also important when choosing an OD is how it is EQ'd.
Lots of OD pedals will alter the EQ of the signal.
They might scoop mids.
They might push mids.
They might roll off highs.
They might roll off lows.

There is a lot to consider when choosing an OD pedal

+1

Personally, I love the "big hair" tortured overdrive sound of the '80s. I enjoy a plain, clean, linear boost as well. And once in a while a genuine fuzz effect is a welcome treat. Unfortunately I've never seen all three of these tones done authentically in a single boost pedal. I keep hoping though.

Lately I've been really grooving on a couple of Klon Centaur clones I bought some while back.
I always had a few snide comments floating around in my mind when I'd hear or read people raving about it like lunatics but lately I revisited the Centaur again and I've decided there might be some substance behind those raves.
It's a pretty good sound.
I don't know if it's the be-all-to-end-all but it's pretty darned good.
I'm not sure why it never really grew on me before but it sure has now.
The two stack very well with themselves and others too.
I especially like pushing a Klone with a snarling Distortion box.
The Klone smoothes out the odd order stuff but retains the snarl.
It's pretty cool.

Looks like I need to do some research into those.

Thanks for the insight, Matt.

I bought the Rockett Archer. It didn't take long before I got another one.

The Centaurs are mostly known for being a great clean-ish boost. That's mostly what the raves are about but they also do lightly driven blues quite well and crunchy rock really well.

Thanks everybody. I ended buying the OCD after I heard it, and don't regret it. I will get the lead for the 18volts as I would like to hear the difference between it and the 9 volts.
