Hey, everyone,

I'm new to tube amps, and I fell in love with the Fender Blues Deluxe. I found a guy selling one, but says it's a 1996 NOT reissue. I tried to do some research online, but couldn't find a clear answer. The only info I found said unless it's a vintage blues deluxe, it's a reissue. I just needed some clarification. Thank you for any help.

IIRC, the Blues Deluxe was first released in 1995 so a '96 is probably from that initial production run.

Thank you for the response.

So is there a difference in quality or sound between the two?

I owned a '95 that I purchased new. It is the one amp a regret selling.

The originals were made in the USA. As is the case with the amps I really like(d), the '95 BD had an intangible vibe that gave me a connection to the amp. It was the only amp I owned for more than five years that NEVER gave me a lick of trouble. When I got back in the market for a tube amp, I checked out the made in Mexico Blue Deluxe Reissue and it felt a hint cheaper than I recall the original, particularly the reverb. Pots, jacks and the tweed covering seemed cheaper.

Granted I was counting on a fifteen year memory of a long gone amp, but those are fond memories, I could not bond with the BDRI and I really dig my current amp which I purchased in lieu of a BDRI, Super-Sonic 22.

The cabinets, including covering, have been MIM for some time, even for the MIA amps. The only real difference between the original and the RI is that they added an external speaker jack to the RI. The electronics, pots, wiring, resistors, tube sockets, are the same for both models, maybe slight circuit revisions that happen over the years to nearly all amp models. It is also possible that the stock tube lineup has changed several times throughout the production run. There is no accounting for the psychological affect of seeing "Made in Mexico" on the nameplate.

True. I could easily be susceptible to that.

I think that we all are.

There is still something special about "Made In USA", and although I own products from all over the globe, I still prefer "Made In USA". 8)

Some of the early BDX had issues with radio station interference when near a broadcaster or an electric fence.
The new board in the reissue solved it.
