Hello there!

I've been having a volume issue (not the known volume between Ch1 and 2 :lol: ) with my head and I figured here would be a good place to start...

My head is about 3 years old and used for less than I'd like to admit...recently ch3 has a huge volume cut from the other channels which to me seemed like a power tube issue. Coming from my Mesa Triple, replacing 2 tubes seemed nominal and worth the investment so I grabbed a matched pair of JJs (I was told this was what they came stock with) and swapped the old ones out. Well now my problem has reversed with channel 3 having no issues with volume or power but my ch1 and 2 are super quiet. Ch1 needs the gain past 12 o'clock and volume at least 3/4s up before it's audible. Have I just been a dope and not swapped the tubes properly? Both 6L6s and the 12AX7 light up and appear to have power. I am running my head at 16ohm into an Avatar 2x12 with V30s guitar straight in...thanks for the insight!

Rob

Issue on one channel has noting to do with power tubes.

You write;
"Both 6L6s and the 12AX7 light up and appear to have power. "
My answer;
Amps tube are not bulb light, light up do not mean tubes are good.

You may have bad connection/ contact or bad solder in the amp and /or bad 12XX7 tube.

Remove all tubes, plug and unplug them few times in their socket. It may help to clean sockets's contacts.

Put back old power tubes ; listen the amp.

Try know good 12XX7 / ECC8X tubes

Report.
