Hi, I´m new to this forums!
I´ve bought a Fender Super Sonic 22 Head two weeks ago and it really sounds great!
I´ve tested it without a footswitch, because they didn´t have one at the musicstore where I bought it.
Now I got a footswitch and I realized, that there is a sound misfire (is that the right word for "Tonaussetzer" in german?) when I switch from burn to vintage channel, but not when I switch back from vintage to burn. I mean a short sound break (about 60 ms) when I switch.
Is that a known problem with this amps, or should I give it back to the store?

Best regards,
Michael

I'm no expert, but since the experts have been silent, and since I own a Super Sonic 22 and I've read quite a bit about them, I'll try to help . . .

You should be able to find information on this topic by searching this forum and other forums. A "pop" or "thunk" sound when switching from burn to vintage channel is a known issue with the Super Sonic amps. It seems some copies have the issue and some do not. Mine has it sometimes, but not other times. There are other known issues with the amp, such as excessive idle noise (hiss and/or hum). Again, some copies have the issue and some do not. IMO, and opinions on this differ, its a great amp, even with the issues, unless you have a really bad copy or truly need a really quiet amp.

IMO, if you can live with the tonaussetzer when switching channels -- i.e., it doesn't detract from your enjoyment of the amp, and you like everything else about it, and there is no objectionable hiss, then I think you should keep it. If the store happens to have another you could compare to, by all means do that.

Thanks for your reply JDB2,
I´ve talked to the guy from the store and searched the net and it´s the relay that ducks the sound for a moment.
And yes, I like the sound of the amp very much. I´ve bought a little overdrive pedal and I think I can deal with that.

IIRC that latency issue is known to Fender and they came up with a fix that was detailed in a TSB about three years ago. Check with an authorized service center (not just a retailer) for all the particulars.
