I got a new Fender Hot Rod Deluxe a week ago. It came from an authorized fender dealer and was in the sealed factory box BUT it has a hole in the tolex near the handle. I would guess the person installing the handle drilled a hole in the wrong place and they decided to send it out like that anyway.

I don't want to go through the hassle of sending it back but it looks like hell, and being on top of the amp it could get moisture in there so I'd like to seal it somehow. I was thinking maybe black silicone sealant. Any other ideas?

black Flex Seal, as seen on TV would work. You need to protect the good area from over spray, it sprays a little sloppy out of the can. If the hole is bigger than 1/4", I'd fit a wooden furniture dowel first whatever product I decided to use.

+1000!

Would you pay full retail for a brand new Lexus or Mercedes that was delivered with a hideous dent in the fender?

No matter what you do to the amp your eyes will always be drawn to the place it was damaged. Send it back!!! I know the waiting will be extremely difficult but you'll never be happy otherwise.
