stuballatt, if you decide to go the vintage Champ or VC route... the silverface models (including the Bronco) have nearly identical circuits to the famous blackface models. And a whole lot cheaper.

And... there are a bunch of us here, that have redone these great amps. Think we have the parts, mods, fixes, etc down.

The only real "mod" I've made to mine was to replace the RCA phono-pin speaker jack with a ¼" phone jack so I could more easily connect the amp to an external speaker such as a 2 x 15 Dual Showman cab (amp sounds monstrously huge in this configuration).

Thanks Arjay. My tech skills are so limited in that regard I'd certainly need the help! :D

There are plug-in adapters to perform that purpose so modding the output jack really isn't necessary.

Hey all. Could use your advice in modifying volume.

Use the same amp you have, turn the volume down for cleans and get yourself a tube distortion pedal, you can get almost any sound you want from a good tube based distortion stomp which sounds like a good tube amp turned up but without the massive volume. I will match my Hot Rod Deluxe and tube distortion stomp to any channel switching amp for tone easily. And the cost was reasonable.....

Thanks, all. I've been checking prices on some of the V-Champs. Surprising the range - anywhere from $500 to $2000. I guess there's a collectors item level of these, or just some guys taking advantage of the unsuspecting??

desertbluesman, after reading your reply I checked some of your other posts - seems you were a fan of the Super Champ x2 (your main being the HRD). Are you still an x2 proponent?
