Hi all, new here but need some fast advice. I've been offered a great deal on a 57 Custom Twin but I've called Fender and they can't trace the serial number. Apparently that's not uncommon but I've obviously got concerns. Maybe someone could take a look at the pics and advise?

Thanks.

Hand-wired re-issue of the 5F8 low-power Twin Amp. It looks to be authentic.

Based on tweed vintage 5E8-A circuit. Complete with dual 5U4G rectifiers. Very nice! Think it came with two special designed Celestion-made alnico 12-inch speakers.

Cool design! Have you played through it?

Here's nice link on TDPRI site:

Not played it yet. It'll need to be converted to U.K. Power but I've got a great guy in place to do it. Here are some more pics -

Those are Eminence drivers, Steve. They appear to be clones of Jensen's P12N alnico, right down to the bell cover and the teal basket.

Indeed they are. One of the last *REAL* Fenders ever made.

If the price is right, yes.

Well they retailed for close to three large so use that and the amp's near-new condition to gauge the asking price.

Dang it! Meant Eminence and for some reason typed Celestion. Mainly because of photos on the TDPRI site. That amp has the Gold Celestion alnico replacement speakers.

Anyhow, if the amp plays well... get it. $1200 for a point-to-point amp with this great circuit is well worth it. I don't think you'll lose any $$$. Play it for years, and prolly sell it for more.

A good thing about point-to-point amps, they are usually easier to fix.

Good luck with it!
