I have a 60th Anniversary Fender Pro Jr amp, which I have implemented the following upgrades:
Weber AlNiCo 10A125-O Speaker (Ted helped me pick it out at the time)
Eurotube Standard Retube Kit (biased for early breakup)
Monster speaker cable

I really, really like the amp, and it sounds terrific with my Fender Showmaster. I typically play in my basement music room. I usually play with the volume at 2, and maybe crank it to 3.5 while practicing with the band (thats all the volume I need to compete with an acoustic drum set, bass player, and vocalists in a PA system). I use effect pedals to produce fuzz, distortion, overdrive, and analogue delay. While the amp sounds amazing at volume levels of 8-12, its just too loud for my basement music room, so the amp rarely reaches those levels.

I recently acquired a Martin acoustic/electric guitar, and it sounds just fine at or below the volume setting of 2 (which is loud enough for my bedroom), however, with my retube kit, and speaker selection, the amp properly and noticeably begins to break up around volume 3 or so with my acoustic guitar.

As far as volume is concerned, I can easily mic my amp with my Sennheiser e609 into my Yamaha MX-200, 16 channel mixer, to my Harbinger 600w speakers and 1500w subwoolfer, so I am not worried about obtaining a huge sound with the amp alone.

I looked at the Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue, however, I would be concerned about 40 watts of power being total overkill for my application.

Last week, I was checking out some guitars at the local shop, and came across the Fender Blues Jr. I like the lacquered tweed look, and that the amp has EQ settings, as well as volume and gain, which my Pro Jr lacks. Maybe that would give me control to drive the pre-amp with low volume, or reduce the gain and turn the master volume up for my acoustic?

So I was wondering if I should part with my Pro Jr and acquire the Blues Jr? If so, it would cost me about $200 or so to upgrade, but I would then probably go with a Weber speaker ($100) and Retube Kit ($60).

Let me know what you guys think.
