I need to know if it's secure to play bass with a bassman 59 from last year 2016. I want to play at home, jams and small gigs. How louder can I go? can I change or play with both guitar and bass? interleaved.

thanks!

Would you play your bass guitar through a Super Reverb?

Because as far as a bass is concerned, that's what it's seeing at the end of the signal chain......an open-back enclosure stuffed with guitar speakers and absolutely no acoustic damping whatsoever.

So, it's not safe? I'm confused. The bassman originaly was for bass guitars, that's why is called bassman, right?

thanks

Name any other premium-priced bass amp that features an open-back cabinet -- vintage OR modern.

There aren't any.

And I just told you why.

Low frequency signals, like those generated by a bass instrument, cause the greatest amount of cone excursion (movement) in a loudspeaker. Excessively long cone excursion, like what occurs when there is no acoustic damping to limit it, eventually overstresses the speaker's suspension system (what holds the cone/coil assembly in it's proper position relative to the magnet structure) and the surround (that which secures the cone to the front of the frame). After replacing countless blown speakers in his 5F6 Bassman model under warranty, Leo Fender replaced it in 1961 with an all-new design featuring a sealed bass-reflex cabinet to prevent premature speaker failure.

You're welcome.

Keep in mind, there's nothing wrong with the amp section of a tweed Bassman -- it just needs a more robust speaker system for use as a bass rig.
