Hey everyone,
I wanted to run an idea I had by some of people here more experienced in electronics than I am.

I just picked up a used FM212R amp. It has a broken pot shaft for the reverb. It's stuck on at about 5-6 I would estimate.

I called to order a new pot but they are out of them. In the meantime while I try to locate a new pot, I want to turn the reverb off.

Speaking to Fender customer service trying to order the pot I asked him if I could simply disconnect the reverb tank by just unplugging the RCA input and outputs from the tank. He said sure that would be fine.

That got me thinking. The footswitch for the amp only has drive and more drive. But you can't engage or disengage the reverb.

Since all it takes to cut the reverb off it disconnecting the RCA leads, couldn't I just run then to a footswitch that cuts the RCA signals which would switch the reverb on and off?

I attached a jumper RCA to a male to male RCA coupler and pulled the plug and it did exactly that...turn the reverb on and off. Seems like putting a switch in between would serve that same purpose. Only one of the RCA leads needed to be disconnected in order to turn it off. The white lead (the tank output) made a slight sound as I pulled the coupler apart. The red lead (tank input) cut the reverb and didn't make any unwanted noise when disconnecting.

What do you think? And problems that this may cause? It doesn't seem any different than just disconnecting it. But I'm certainly not an electronics wizard. I've made my share of footswitches and pedals but just solder according to wiring diagrams. I'm learning when it comes to what does what, and why. So go easy on me please :)

Any help, advice, or opinions are much appreciated!!
