I just recently got a 68 Vintage Modified Princeton Reverb amp. I was aware that this was already a darker sounding amp compared to the '65 Princeton, but I got such a good deal on this amp that I couldn't pass it up. After toying with it for a while, it is just too dark for my taste and I want to brighten it up. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I was thinking of replacing the Celestion speaker with a Jensen C10R 8 ohm (the same speaker found in the '65). Would this do the trick? Any tips would be great!

Replacing the OEM Celestion speaker would certainly be a good first step. In fact, it might be all that the amp needs to give it that "brighty/shiny" tone that most players expect from a Fender tube amp. There are several worthy 10-inch drivers besides the Jensen C10R that you might consider. Regardless, start with a speaker change then go from there.
