hi guys im new to this forum and thought i could get some help about my amp. I just recently played a show the other day and found that my amp did not work. No red light, no sound, nothing. Only a slight glow from the back of the amp. So the next day i looked it over and noticed that only the rectifier tube is glowing but no power tubes or pre amp tubes glow. There is a slight hum when i turn the amp on but nothing else. And still no red light indcating its on. Any one know what it could be? I looked at the fuse and it seems to be okay. when i pull it out while the amp is on the rectifier tube stops glowing.

Tube glowing may be not easy to see if you have no knowledge. Rectifier glow a lot and it is easy to see.
Hum mean amp working or work partially .

Check input jacks or your guitar...
Move guitar cord in input jack see if you heard some sound. Guitar plug in the amp.

The symptoms seem to indicate that the power tranny's 6.3 VAC tap for the heater voltage has taken a dump. Without it, there'll be no pilot lamp nor heater voltage for any of the tubes EXCEPT for the rectifier which uses a separate 5.0 VAC tap for its heater.

Hum with no 12XX7and 6V6 tubes working ; he hear voltage from output transformer ?

"And still no red light indcating its on. "
He is talking about pilot light or red light from 12xx7 or 6V6 tubes ?

Yes if it is the power transformer , heater voltage reading at the secondary is needed to know if you need a new PT.
It could be a broken or disconnect wire ? Have a look inside the amp.

Picture from inside the amp may help

The "shotgun" approach to electronic troubleshooting often costs a lot more money than if a trained technician examines the amp and correctly diagnoses the *specific* issue. It could in fact merely be a cold solder joint (a frequent occurrence in all contemporary Fender amps). A shorted tube or tube socket could also be the culprit. I would urge you to let a competent repair facility take a look at the amp before taking any action yourself.

If you're suggesting that as a remedy, it's the stupidest fooking idea I've seen all week.

And since it's nearly Friday, you might even qualify for the trophy.

It is a well know solution if you think it can save you money if you only need a tubes heater voltage.

Apart from displaying your ignorance, I see no argument to support your statement wich would be more constructive.

Ignorance?

So Mr. Wizard, show us just where you'd mount such a superfluous tranny within the already-tight confines of the Deluxe Reverb's chassis.

Sacré bleu, fix the amp right or find a new hobby!

At this point, it seems that opening the amp and checking a few things is the next step.

It is quite possible, even likely, that a shorted tube could have caused your problem. Many times, a shorted tube will take out the "pull down" resistors on the filament supply, so replacing the defective tube and resistors might take care of it.

Of course we are all making educated guesses, and as stated, it is time for someone that knows what they are doing, to raise the hood and have a look.
