I recently went to replace one of the 12AX7 tubes on my amp and when I removed the tube one of the pin clamps was still attached to the pin on the tube.

Is this something I can re-insert into the socket or do I need to replace the whole socket?

Thanks!

I would replace the entire socket, and inspect the others for similar indications of fatigue. Those that also look tired should be replaced as well.

Seconded. And if it doesn't already have high quality sockets, it's a good time to upgrade. Sockets are cheap, even ceramic ones.

The pin still have a wire solder to it , if not amp can't work.
Pins may move like to go out but they won't, is that you see ?

Unless you have some skill in soldering, leave it like that. You may not need to replace a 12AX7 in the amp's life.

Witch pin it is ? http://www.dogstar.dantimax.dk/tubestuf/pinout.htm

The socket pins are retained by a tang on the socket that slides in and locks into the plastic body, and the soldering to the circuit board. There are no unused pins.
You can retension the tang, reinstall and resolder it.
Your amp is trying to tell you something. It is an indicator that you need to have the entire amp resoldered. Iy will sound better and be more reliable for an extended period.
The HRDX uses a low profile socket.
Ceramic sockets can be a good replacement. However, the ceramic does not provide much benefit for cool running preamp tubes and their socket pins are often just two fingers to clamp the tube pin.
For Sensitive preamp connection, its important to use a socket with a full circle pins for reliable connections.

You are right TimAudio, socket are solder on small printed circuit close to them. I thought socket are olt on chassis with short wires to the printed circuit board.

Just need to resolder it
