I have a 1997+/- Fender Twin in immaculate condition. The foot switch has never been in unwrapped. I am new to guitar so really don't know what I have. Would you guys/gals tell me what I have and what all I need to know about it. I have a USA Tele and Eric Clapton Strat. Is this a keeper or should I trade for something else? Thanks

Red knobs or Black knobs ?

If it play well and you like the tone, I'll keep it.

Fender had long abandoned the red knobs by 1997.

That's a great start. How did you manage to be new to guitar and end up with a EC strat. I want one of those. And since you don't have the George Benson Twin, you'll have to settle for what you got. You skipped over the Blues Junior phase. Good. I'd add effects to the Twin sound and I'm thinking,,, it's good.

It is cheaper to begin with good gear.

In answer to the questions in this post: It has black knobs. I traded a Princeton Chorus and $100 for the Twin in '97 so it might be a '95. A friend of mine bought it new and I know he didn't have it over two years. I bought the EC and a natural ES335 at the same time in '97 and also bought an '83 Tele about 10 or 12 years ago. I have no idea why I have all this and don't even play guitar, but am trying to learn. Any more info on the Twin will be appreciated. How can I tell if it is a Twin or the Evil Twin? I know the earlier Evil Twins had red knobs, but I think the later ones had the black. Thanks

Post some pics of the amp so we can definitively identify it by age and specific model.

Did the amp play often or it was stored for long time ?

If it was stored, it may need a to see a tech for a good tune-up. Tubes socket contacts may need a good clean- up. They oxidize with time when the amp is not in use for long time

Also, is this too big of an amp to use as a practice amp in the living room when everyone is in bed? Thanks

Absolutely.

Folks living ten kilometers away won't have any problem hearing you.

The Evil Twin ('94-2000 "Twin Amp") should not have red knobs. Fender called it the evil twin because it has gain boost on both channels.

Yeah, he should trade it in for a Fender 400 PS[*]. Much more useful for bedrooms.

[*]: It stands for Pretty Silent, doesn't it?
