Hi Everyone,
New here and looking for some input please : )

Looking for my first tube amp and recently ran across the 68 Custom Vibrolux which sounds amazing to me - see link

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVnNaS91s-s

Wondering if anyone who has this amp can share if this is a good amp for home use? Just concerned it may be too loud but I do love the cleans as well as crunch out of this one amp.

Any input is greatly appreciated.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all.
Jimmy

I have a original Silverface Vibrolux reverb I use at home. I love it .

1- What do you mean by "for home use" ?
If you want to use it for the "sweet spot ", crunch, yes is too loud.
You may use a 3 watts amp...

2- For a clean good Fender sound, it is a good amp. for crunch use good pedal.

Before buying, check it carefully , play with it to be sure there is no issue. Don't buy it if you can't test it carefuly

You tube; did you ear something sound bad on YT ?

It's suitability for home use really depends upon how big your home is.

If your abode is sized like that of Bill Gates or Warren Buffet you'll have no problem.

And how many live in it. Pruning the occupants can do wonders!

All amps have a volume control, like your TV, home stereo.....

Or, If your neighbors are a half mile down the road, no problem.

Yes, but if you look closer, you'll find that most of them don't have a gain control.

I have the '68 Custom Vibrolux Reverb and use it at home and love it. You may or may not want to upgrade the speakers. I found an old pair of Fender Special Design out of a 89 Stereo Chorus Reverb and love them. However the OEM Celestions do not sound bad once broke in. The amp takes pedals well too. Anyway I highly recommend it. Very happy with it and I also have an all original 66 Super Reverb but find myself plugging in to the "68 Custom Vibrolux most the time. As far as volume goes I just add an overdrive pedal if I want some dirt at lower volumes but it sounds great at any volume. Love the cleans from this amp. I think you would be very happy with it.

Those who continue to insist that the only acceptable way to use a tube amp is to turn it up enough to overdrive the power tubes are in for a long life of burst bubbles, and disappointment.

They'd be much better off taking a basic course in acoustics and the science of how the human ear works.
