Hi,
I wonder if someone could help me understand what is happening with my amp. :roll:
I've just bought it from someone with a new set of JJ power tubes. I forgot to ask him About the bias setting so I've decided to check it.
The problem is that the range of the bias setting only goes from 3.5 to 48 mV at the bias control point. It is set at 15 mV for the moment
What could it be?
Many thanks
Sorry for my poor English :oops:

Bias instruction for Blues Deluxe Reissue;
No signal applied, set bias adjust pot R82 to obtain a reading of +60mV at TP47

Is it ok for you ?

Your english is very good.

I've finally founded why I could'nt go higher, It's not 6L6 but 6V6 power tubes. :oops:
I've set it at 40mV and the tone is now much better.
I have now a wonderful amp.
I have a 12ay7 EH in V1 a 12ax7 JJ in V2 and a balance 12at7 JJ in PI. When I bought the amp it was all 12ax7 JJ and the volume control was unusable at home level, now it is perfectly manageable.
I also have a WGS ET69 speaker.
The person who sold me the amp gave me a Fromel kit unmounted in a plastic bag. I wonder if I 'm going to put it in or just leave it like this :?: I like the tone the way it is.
Many thanks for your time and advises :wink:

Blues Deluxe Reissue come with 6L6
Where do you see this amp come with 6V6 ?

Schematic show 431 volt at plate with 6L6
6V6 need 19 mA each, 40 mA both at 431plate V. Plate voltage may be higher with 6V6, check it. You set it a 40 ok , but what is the plate voltage ?

Accurate bias for best tone and longer tubes life need to know plate voltage.Use Bias calculator;

The previous owner bought his set of tube for the blues deluxe at Eurotubes "6V6 option" (he gave me his sales receipt) :)
My plate voltage is 402V measured between pin 3 and 8.
I've bought my speaker and preamp tube at tube town in Germany.

With 402 plate voltage, 40 ma is a good bias

Never put them in BD without bias adjustment.

IMO the only 6V6 designed for such abuse is JJ's 6V6S variant.

+1
415-420V on plates with a modest bias is working fine for me.
