Early 60's Fender Tremolux. It had cream tolex with blond grill cloth. It was a great sounding and great looking amp. I traded it in for the big bandmaster that came out in the late 60's because it looked better on stage. Ah if you could do everything over again.

I wish I still had my favorite pair of amps: original 62 Bandmaster and 62 Bassman.

I used to have a silver face Dual Showman that was just beautifull sounding. These days I make due with my '57 Deluxe RI. It's a perfect match for a Tele.

These seem like very civil forums...cool...I need to visit more.

this forum made me think about different amps I've used over my career, and I came up with a very long list, but many of the amps very short term, or borrowed or rented. So I've cut it down to only amps I used over a period of years.
in chronological order....

- early 70's Australian made Eminar 100 watt head, ptp, all tube, EL34
- 'WASP' late 1960's Aust-made ptp, all tube, KT88 head. (superb, HIWATT like clean tone)
- Marshall JCM 800, 100 Watt
- Goldentone ReverbMaster, 1960's Aust, ptp, 60watt, 2x12, EL 34
- 1965 Vox AC30 top boost
- Ampeg VT22. 1970's 120 Watt, 2x 12 combo
- Marshall JCM 800, 50 Watt, 2 x 12 combo
- Ampeg Jet 12T
- VADIS, 1960's Aust-made 50 watt, 2 x 12, ptp, all tube, rev & trem, EL 34s
- Fender 65 Deluxe Reverb Reissue
- Ampeg V4 120 watt head (running 6L6s)
- Fender VibroChamp, blackface
- Fender 64 Custom Vibroverb

Obviously I've prefered vintage tube amps, and had the pleasure of using some classics and some rare birds too. The last 3 amps are the ones I'm using now, Ampeg, Champ and Vibroverb. No prizes for guessing my favourite amp EVER is the Vibroverb. It's got everything I love - all tube ptp construction so it will still work after i'm long dead, the superb sparkling harmonically rich Fender blackface clean sound, (not as neutral and hi-fi as my Ampeg), tube rev and trem, sweet natural tube overdrive and sustain when pushed, the fat depth and stage filling spread of a 15" speaker, tilt-back legs so I can be surrounded by tone and don't punish anyone else in my band, all the volume I'll ever need for stage sound, a second channel for my theremin, AND a manageable size and weight (the combo is lighter than my Ampeg head!).

I thought about the Vibro King but I wouldn't use those extra reverb controls, I'm totally happy with just one rev knob, and the extra weight puts it firmly into the difficult-to-lug basket.
uh, so there's food for thought...

Thinking back it's a toss up! Back in the '80's I had a marshall that was modded by Lee Jackson, Killer tone! then I had a '70's Twin with JBL speakers great amp, switched to a Blues Deluxe which was also a great amp. usually the one that I currently play through is my favorite, so I have a Fender Two Tone amp now modded by Collins Amps that thing is a monster! So for now that would have to be my favorite.

I'm quite surprised I haven't seen the Deluxe Reverb mentioned more. Obviously available now in the '65 Vintage Re-Issue.

I think this is all around probably the finest amp Fender has ever produced. Not only because of the beautiful clean sound, but it's portability, affordability, pracality for small to medium sized venues and that it's pretty much a Twin Reverb cut in half, the Twin Reverb being one of the all time Kings of Pure, Clean, Raw, Powerful and WONDERFUL tone.

I switch between and run a DRRI in parallel with a Blues Jr. NOS (love this one as well; haven't heard better for the $) via a Lehle Little Dual Amp Switcher Pedal and it's quite phenominal.

I must admit however, I'd love a Twin Reverb and/or a Super Reverb and may in fact own both one day. Running through or switching between both as I do now. Nothing says we have to always be practical. And as I suggest, if the Deluxe Reverb is the finest, the Twin Reverb would then be the finest times two.

It all depends I loved my old Vox Royal Guardsman great sound, but I have to really say my Peavey VTM-60 Head and 4-12 cabinet. I owned the thing for 15 years, practiced countless hours at high volume, played an untold number of shows, dragged it back and forth across the country numerous times and in those 15 years the only thing I ever had to do to it was replace two of the tubes, when I donated it to my church for thier choir it was still going strong. Great sound and tough as all get out.
