Ordered a brand new Fender 65 Deluxe Reverb RI from Musiciansfriend a few days ago. It arrived and the vibrato is dead. I plug in the switch and push the vibrato button and no vibrato. I checked the V5 preamp tube and it was lighting up but put a brand new one in there and the ticking sound was coming out of the speaker, but no vibrato added to the signal. I called a few nearby service centers and the quickest turnaround time was 6 weeks. I ended up exchanging the amp with Musiciansfriend but can't figure out how this amp arrived this way. I highly doubt shipping caused this issue, so I believe this slipped through Fender quality control.

About a week ago, I bought a Fender 68 Deluxe Reverb from Guitar Center that was supposedly on the floor for 3 days and it was noisy and had popping issues whenever I plugged in good working guitar cables. I ended up returning that after reading bad reviews about that particular model.

I am pretty disappointed with Fender quality control. I have been dealing with issues with Fender guitars and amps over the years and took a break from buying things until recently. I was actually banned from Zzounds.com for too many defective Fender returns.

I actually emailed consumer relations at Fender.

From me :
"I'm just wondering if fender has quality control anymore? I just bought a fender 65 deluxe reverb reissue brand-new in a sealed box from http://musiciansfriend.com. It showed up in new condition as expected but the vibrato effect was dead. I tried to replace the tube for the vibrato section (v5) and that didn't fix it. I called a few Fender service centers and the quickest turnaround I could find within 100 miles was 5 to 6 weeks. I have already been banned from http://zzounds.com for returning excessive items. The majority of the items were defective fender products including amps and guitars. I live in a small town and my nearest fender dealer is 30 to 60 miles away for me. On top of that in Tennessee I have 10% sales tax on top of your already high prices. So I am forced to buy online since I can't afford to buy local."

Their answer:
"Hi Drew,
Sorry to hear of the problems with the new Deluxe. The best thing to do would be to take it to the nearest authorized service center. If you provide me your zip code I can give you the one nearest you.

Fender consumer relations is a joke. The guy didn't even read my message.
