I've bought 2 brand newHot Rod Deluxe III and have recieved them in the boXbox from Fender and both were broke. The first one lasted for a gig and a half, then the sound just quit, so I contacted the shop where I bought it and they contacted Fender and Fender sent another, brand new one which I recieved today. I take it out of the box, plug it up, everything seemed to be working perfectly until I switched it over to the drive and more drive channels, hen I did that the volume just dropped along with the balls it had in the clean channel, when I switched it back to the clean channel, boom back to perfect. Has anyone else experienced these problems with these amps or Fender products? I'M A DIE HARD FENDER MAN BUT THIS IS PUTTING A VERY BAD TASTE IN MY MOUTH!!!

I'm sorry for your bad experience.
As an independent tech, I see very few out of box failures that aren't caused by tube failure.
As a tech, I also see "new" amps that already have repairs done to them.
I have also seen "new" amps with worn out power tubes.
If the amp came from a chain store, you might take a look at the date codes on the power and preamp tubes. This might give you an idea as to the actual age of the unit..

Both amps came direct from Fender on freight, still in the box

Update:

I brought the amp back to the local music shop, which is not a chain store, where I ordered both amps from and they called their Fender rep to see where we go from here and the rep said let me ask the guy who designed these Hot Rod amps and then he said that the designer himself said, oh there's nothing wrong with that amp it's supposed to be like that when you switch channels and Fender the Fender rep said that they would not take it back and replace it with one that works properly because there's no problem.

Now, I own and use every gig, a Hot Rod Deville 4x10 and when I switch it to the drive channel there is no volume, tone, or EQ drops of any kind, and now this yahoo says it's suppose to be like that. Who does this guy think he's kidding, those amps are NOT suppose to be like that!!!

Like I said before, I am a die hard Fender guy, but I'm starting to not want to spend another dime with them if this is the way they handle their customer care, quality inspection, and quality control before their products leave the factory. If I would've gotten these amps from a chain store, internet etc...... ok I could see a hassle or issues, but straight from the Fender factory????? COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A consumer-relations dipstick infers you're ignorant and essentially told you to pound sand.

Now that's what I call a real class act.

I don't think you're alone there.
The last new Fender amp I bought was in 2000 and even by then I felt the quality was starting to diminish.
I've pretty much given up on new Fender amps.
You may want to consider the used market, something built in the 90's or earlier.
Also there is a pretty good cottage industry catering to players who want amps built like they were in yesteryear but can't afford vintage pieces.
They offer clones of great old amps.
Some better than others but all better than what's currently available.
In the case of clones it depends on which is more important to you; the tone and quality of an old school Fender or the Fender logo.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

+1

The fact is, Fender's best days are behind them.

Tragic......

What were the drive and master pot set to.
Looking at the diagram it looks like a relay switches from the vol pot in drive/more drive mode to the drive and possibly master pot.
I had one of these but sold it so can't check.. and I could be wrong ....but you may need the drive and master to balance it if you require the same level in normal and drive :D

Uh, this sound awfully suspicious. I think your dealer is pulling your leg, bigtime. :D

FWIIW: My local factory authorized repair center gave me the same line regarding the ambient hiss in my Super-Sonic 22. I just was not playing loud enough to mask the hiss. To paraphrase Click and Clack when talking about Mercedes, "There is nothing wrong with the amp."

Doubly so, since it was Ritchie Fliegler who designed the Hot Rod series and he hasn't been with Fender in over ten years.

They're definitely jerkin' yer gherkin!
