I currently use a 1970 Twin Reverb in my bedroom. Obviously I cannot go above 3 comfortably. My plans were to play it in the garage but even then it is too much. What would be a good bedroom amp? I like the Blues Jr, Pro Jr or maybe a silverface Champ if I go with something older. Thanks.

I really like my Yamaha THR-10C. The Deluxe model is spot on; the Class A boutique model is really responsive; the pseudo Marshall Plexi is great fun. A nice selection of built in effects, including a good sounding spring reverb. Weighs five pounds, can run off batteries but comes with an AC adapter. Can get plenty loud enough for the bedroom. I've got a nice Tubescreamer clone that sounds good with it. If I want real tubes I plug into the Blues Jr, but the THR-10C does everything I want in a bedroom amp.

The Yamaha THR10C is a jewel! It sounds & feels terrific. The Amp Profiles are exceptionally well done. The 5 on board memories are easy to customize and reset, and the built in Tuner is convenient. The control knobs feel solid and provide good response. I use mine battery powered and it has been a blast. The Full Range Frequency Response stereo speakers sound great for Aux In backing tracks and song playback. Headphone out sounds really good, and can be used as a Line Out. I have patched the headphone out to the FX Returns of my Mustang IV/III and it sounds great! There's also software to edit the Amp's features. For such a compact package the Yamaha THR10C is hard to beat. The Deluxe amp profile is my most often used.

Another vote for the Yamaha THR10c. All of the amp models are very good but my favourite is the Class A.

I rather like the original THR10 and prefer it over the THR10C.

For the OP, there is also a THR10X which is sort of a metal version. So, there are 3 versions to choose from.

There are also some smaller boxes, for less money and presumably half the power. They are 5s rather than 10s.

The Yamaha THRs are, in my opinion, the definitive bedroom amps.

I'm also very fond of Yamaha's THR line. I already had a THR5A for my acoustics so, when I need something quieter or lighter than my Bassbreaker 15, I plug my Les Paul into it, going through a Palmer PocketAmp mk2. The PocketAmp provides the amp tone (Fender Tweed, Marshall JTM or Mesa US sound) and I really like the sound that comes out of the THR5A, keeping it in "Electric Guitar Clean" mode and using its effects.

I too own a THR5, original for electric, its’ actually a 10W amp. With the built in effects, it sounds great. Generally, I just like Yamaha products, and will buy again. Just like a lot of people like Fender products.

I don’t know why any amp can’t be used as a bedroom amp. You may not adjust it as loud as you want. I use effect boxes, at any volume. People use to go crazy with home stereo speakers, just for a room use.

Since this is a Fender forum, I’d suggest a Champion 40, Mustang lll (with effects), and include your Twin Reverb. Despite how great the Yamaha Amps sound, I still like to practice at home with a bigger amp, it gives me a different sound.

For the bedroom, I don't see the problem with having a decent sized tube amp.
The living room, yes, I understand that SWMBO may not allow something too loud, large or ugly, but the bedroom doesn't have to be presentable, and if there aren't occasional loud sounds coming out of it anyhow, something is wrong...

I second this I had one and loved it. It is tweak-able with Fender Fuze, has many of the classic Fender tones, and more. It is excellent for a practice amp, and would work with a small band in a small room un-miked. It is partial tube, partial modeling. Not quite up to a real tube tone, but it is as close as I could ever get with a modeling or hybrid amp. You can find the combo used with foot-switch for $250, or about $400 new with foot-switch.

Marconi and Tesla each had one of those on their workbench.

That was my thought as well. I've had an SCXD (not quite the same thing) for a few years and pretty versatile. Even holds it's own (barely) in relatively quiet Jazz/blues jams outside the bedroom. But if you're into things digital, I also have a Mustang I I fool around with occasionally. If you don't mind used, I have an 86 Champ (I'm the original owner but you can find them out there) that has all the character of that much age and use.

Fender has come out with another reissue - '57 Custom Champ 5W 1x8 Tube Guitar Amp.

It's just $999.99. Yikes!
