Does the PRRI have the same bright cap as the DRRI? If it does, is there the same general consensus regarding the PRRI as there is with the DRRI, i.e., that the bright cap needs to be clipped if one wishes to use OD pedals with the amp?

No, it doesn't seem to have that cap.

Correct.

If you need more bottom-end beef, a better speaker is the usual "cure".

I'm no Arjay. That schematic may as well be Aramaic to me.

What would you consider to be the best and/or most well regarded speaker for the Princeton?

The Weber that Steve mentioned is very good. Also worthy is Celestion's Gold Alnico 10 (though a bit pricier). A tasty choice among ceramic speakers is a vintage (Chicago-made) Jensen C10R, which was OEM in the early Blackface PR's for several years.

Hmmm ... Arjay recommending 10" Golds on this one.
I find that interesting.
I'll have to pay attention here.
I am a fan of Celestions.
I have a pair of Alnico Golds (12") on hand.
A pair of Blues as well but in 16Ω, of course.
I don't care for the Golds.
I'll keep them around just in case, though.
Not sure if the 10" versions sound different but I found the 12s too trebly for my taste.
I tried them in my Rivera rig and ended up putting the stock G12T75s back in.
The Golds seemed more efficient than the stockers and they were nice and spanky but the mids and lows seemed to be missing, particularly those deep, woofy, breathy lows.
I have not tried the 10's since I haven't had an amp equipped with 10s since I sold my SFVR a few years back.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Odd.

A few years back I installed a Celestion Gold 10 in a client's silverface Princeton Reverb, replacing the original Oxford 10J4. At first listen the rejuvenated amp sounded a bit "squawky" but after 30 or 40 hours of vigorous use everything smoothed out and warmed up, with a creamy-and-compressed vibe not heard with the stock OEM speaker.

You might give those Gold 12's another extended try and let them "breathe" awhile before relegating them to spares-only status.

I have a Celestion Gold 10" that I tried in a laney Cub 10 combo, replacing the stock Celestion Tube 10 ceramic magnet speaker. The sound was wonderfully clean, solid, warm, articulate. However, the sound of the ceramic speaker was what I really wanted from that particular amp, so I put the Tube 10 back in. I think that the Gold 10" would definitely work well in a PR, or any amp that you want to be clean.
