Be interesting to see if the new reverb tranny does the trick. I can't remember when a poor reverb tone was due to a bad tranny. Anyhow, the 1.5ohm is the primary side (input) and the 1.2k-ohm is the secondary (output).

Here's a chart with the approximate DC resistance for input and output of the tanks:

Its more than just a weak reverb signal Beemer, there is a follow up crackle and sputter that goes away with the reverb disconnected.

I found another fella with a similar issue and the reverb driver / transformer was the issue
Cables are good, tank is good, tried several 12AT7's in V-3 and a few 12AX7's in V-4 just to be sure so..............
printed circuit looks to be fine also.

Not without removing it from the Super Reverb

Only getting 1 ohm at input side across the RCA terminals and open on the output side

I thought I had already checked the tank
Guess I hadn't

1.0 ohms (DC) across input is fine. Equals about 8-ohm impedance, at 1kHz.

Sure but I have an open circuit on the output side so.......................
Image

If you look close you can see the iron delaminating in the picture
I pulled the little connector off and measured right at the two metal posts and again had an open circuit

Not sure how I heard any reverb at all ??? must have been on the way out and then my handling the tank may have finished the job eh.

Chris, bit confused here. Open circuit = infinite resistance. Not 1 ohm.

Must be misunderstanding you. :?:

Sorry Steve I'm tackling this and writing at the same time.

Input side of the tank (across the RCA) 1ohm

Output side measured across that sides RCA and directly across the transducer pins is infinite resistance

And again the iron laminates are coming apart at the transducer and so what we have here is a Junk Reverb tank
Still wonder how i heard anything at all ???

New Mod Tank on the way

Nice sounding DRRI, as it should be...Much easier to carry somewhere than your SR. Enjoyed the sound clip.

No problem. New tank should do the trick. I gave up trying to fix those tiny inductors. Yours was prolly barely working, as you said. Then the removal ---> complete loss of continuity.

DR --- so DDRI should, too --- have some of the best reverb tones.

Indeed Sfceric ! a one hander is kinda nice especially going up and down stairs

I can't however imagine life without the Super Reverb and can't imagine the DRRI ever sounding that good so...........
New Reverb tank should be here by Saturday Steve and just maybe a nice rectifier tube too 8)

The Carvin British (Eminence) speaker helped a lot, however I'm thinking a Swamp Thang Emi is what the DRRI needs for optimum american Fender tones or a weber 12F150 or a weber 12A150

I have a Weber A125 in mine the tone is very nice, I attenuate w/ a Weber so the 25watter is fine for my use. If I had planned on playing all out I would have got the A150....A bit pricey, but the worn in tone is worth the cash.
I don't bias quite as hot as you though.

I'll get closer to 27-28ma with the RCA 6V6GT's and the new rectifier
